Excel file weird characters. is the file corrupt?

Had about 6-7 sheets and suddenly vanishing after opening again, i got an error that the file is incompatible and do you still want to open? i said yes and showed the characters as per the screenshots :S

can some1 explain procedure to recover the file? :ashamed:

what if you close the file and make sure all running excel process are closed, then reopen the file?

the starting "PK" indicates its a zip file which is the format of the .xlsx of Excel 2007... make sure the extension is .xlsx...
