Even if it will be 1k per month contract for 2 years, it will be a decent deal. Dont forget that in monthly rentals Edge will also be included (500 MB minimum I think).

In any case, it would be a better deal than getting a v1 iPhone for 26k (without warranty, without Edge connection). Ofcourse, you can get Edge connection on ur v1 iPhone as well, but then even your monthly usage will go nearly upto 1k per month

like i said before , even if the monthly plans are 2k , it won't matter to me since our company offers us 2k every month for phone charges.But since i don't really call anybody, i don't benefit much from it.
So even if monthly plans are high i can easily afford them and maybe after 2yrs. i could sell the iphone for say 10k and get a new iphone(4g ?).

But i don't believe tech2 or techtree reports.I still think iphone will sell for 25-30k without any monthly plans.In that case i won't be buying it.

I had a talk with an Airtel Gallery owner who has some idea about the pricing & he said they are very near to the price of 12500.

But the logistics with the contracts is not final yet & thats what causing the delay in the launch.

^that depends on what Apple's plan for india is - if it wants to be a "luxury brand" or if it wants volume.

if it is the former - 25k unlocked/12k + 2k/month plans are likely - which would mean that not too many of the aam-junta would be buying it, and would be an elite-class product.

if it is the latter, assuming that the manufacturing cost is $175 as has been reported then if it sells here for ~$400 (unlocked for India region) then it is in an unbelievably good position - out of reach of the bourgeoisie, just within reach of the middle class, and not too cheap for the elite (who would have the option of buying the white 16GB version anyway) - this would create volume as well as brand image....

BUT - as Apple is going only with airtel/vodafone - i expect ~20k + operator(not plan) lock.
