I already like this.Gannu said:Yeah too much of gore in the game. Severed bodies, limbs, spilled intestines, blood trails, graffiti on the walls using blood and what not.
asingh said:The game play is much better as compared to F2. You will feel quite a stark difference upon launch. Primarily the HUD and grainy wash. It has the bob affect to add realism, but might make some player pukey...! There is not that much rag-doll, but melee is quite nice. I remember punching a dead soldier, and he toppled over. The pistol is quite weak, feels lousy. The standard carbine is fine. Feels a bit light on action, but is accurate. Re-load is way way too fast as I initially mentioned. Shotgun is powerful and shows some recoil. The sniper gun (duh) is powerful. Guess Gannu, can comment more on weapons since he completed it.
Visual are better for sure. F2 had far too much red/orange spanning the canvas, which I found irritating. Not in terms of blood and gore, but the back ground color mix. This has nice dark spots, with a ton of gray. The underground swampy regions feel eerie and realistic. Once F1 finished the dev. teams moved away from the highly industrial locales and metallic structures. Though the "clunck clunk" of walking on metal resonates realism and combat.
Grenades do a decent job. You get (till now) the standard splinter type and a flash bang. They are difficult to throw. Since you play in close confines of buildings and girders you will have them bouncing back. But they tick (tee tee tee) and then go off. At times I saw the AI also causing a ricochet, and they they scrambled. The AI here is good, so people might find the grenades useless. They scatter and run for cover. A flash-bang can be shot and exploded. The AI use it a lot for flush out maneuvers.
Overall this game fits the bill for F.E.A.R cannon.
Mediocre visuals and textures actually.Bluffmaster said:Nicely compressed game.
The 2nd level is exactly CoD'esh. That did throw me off. Incidentally I find the slow-mo to slow. Also Point Man looks gay. Damn gay.Ethan_Hunt said:I'm at interval 4 right now and I'm seriously disappointed. It's not scary at all. The graphics are dull and story progression is abysmal. To top all that, they include day-time outdoor environments. WTF? I felt like I was playing a COD game in the second interval. The scare factor is missing. Random Alma appearance, hallucinations & creatures shadows running past by are seriously getting boring. The upgrades system is really odd. For most part, I though the bottom part of having to take cover for 100 second and shit like that was a part of some sort of achievement system, only to realize, it enhances our rank, thus giving us a new ability. Gore level is amped and it's extremely satisfying to watch those soldiers being killed in slo-mo. Speaking of slow-mo, is it just me or does it run out of juice very soon and refills even slower? I remember the first F.E.A.R had much better regeneration time for the reflex meter. I think F.E.A.R 2 had those reflex injectors. It's also hilarious that Fettel does all the talking and Point-man sits there like a f*ckin' mute. There is no real interactions happening. This installment just doesn't feel right.
I thought Fettel did! Do we ever get to see how Point Man looked in the first titles? Don't think so.asingh said:Also Point Man looks gay. Damn gay.
True, Ethan, true. F1 was classic. As I mentioned before, it was pure industrial over lay with metallic and mechanical object. The dark confines and sharp corners were classic.Ethan_Hunt said:The first game was like an enigmatic journey, with you not knowing who/what Alma is and Fettel's agenda. It's this curiosity and the game's atmosphere that really made it creepy. Everything seems to have gone downhill since then. 4 more intervals to go, so let's see if anything changes.
Damn right! But the only good things that this game have is satisfying action and AI almost as good as fear 1..Rest(the story, gfx, scar factor, environments etc) is all a letdown..But still the action and fast gameplay makes up for its flaws and makes it a decent shooter! But nothing like Fear!Ethan_Hunt said:I'm at interval 4 right now and I'm seriously disappointed. It's not scary at all. The graphics are dull and story progression is abysmal.
