real f1 fans will be there forever cheering the sport and the new drivers. they wont lose interest just coz schumi is not there. schumi is not f1. he is just a small part of what makes f1. drivers come and go but that doesn't mean its all over.

good day for me..my fav driver kimi won the race and my fav team mclaren finished 2nd and 3rd but i was surprised to see both mclarens finish the race in single pieces.
^QF dada- you spoke my mind.:hap2:

Hahaha....
Just look what the exit of The Best Race Driver in F1 history has done to the sport...

Until last year, there would be pages loaded with Schumi and Schumi and Schumi content...and all the hype was there....Thats before the race...

Look now...hahaha...hardly a page:rofl: And that too after the race is over.
Speaks volumes over how the sport has changed and how ppl are loosing interest in F1 after the exit of MS.
Damn- so as per your theory, F1 viewership should have ended with Senna's demise:(.:cool2:

MotoGP didn't end with Rainey or Doohan nor will it after Rossi.:cool2:

The prob is that most wannabes, show-offs, ... (apart from good followers of the sport like you, Nikhil and Harshal dada) are Schumi fans w/o having the faintest idea of what F1 is all about.
Schumi was the leader of the pack a few years back when F1 started gaining hype/recognition in India and how else does one fit in the 'COOL' class but by cheering for the fave.
At that time if a teenager ain't talking F1 in public with pals, he ain't in tune with the times= uncool.
And i was just out of my teens then and how i hated those showoffs- oh yes- i also never followed EPL:ashamed: - thats one more thing to follow to be cool..
Now that Schumi is gone, they are LOST as they understand zilch about technological advancements, race changes, driving tactics, ...
Oh yes- but they may start cheering for Ferrari- they know at least being a Ferrari fan is COOL.:ohyeah:

I never hated Schumi and have much respect for what he's achieved but i kinda never liked him.
Dunno why- Maybe coz he was the guy in hot pursuit of Senna when he crashed and speculation had been rife that Senna was a bit uncomfortable with the growing aggressive challenge of a new promising lad in F1; i.e. MS.:(

Montoya disappointed many. Alonso failed to gain my respect for him when he did that ridiculous hip shaking thing in front of MS on the podium with the intent of mocking MS.

My cool Finns always try and give something to cheer about, irrespective of how many times they are let down by their car or team.

Looking forward to a very very exciting season ahead- now that Schumi and all that hype about F1 is finally gone.

lol. These Anti Schumi guys will support anyone and any other team even if it is not their favourite team, as long as they have a chance to write down Ferrari and Schumi :bleh: . Michael gone, F-1 has lost some of its charm. I will continue to watch. i did so when that icecold finn took championship twice when ferrari was struggling. I watched when Schumi fractured his leg only to return and stop Mika such a way that the whole race, Mika had to watch and eat dust of ferrari's tail. I watched when Schumi and Ferrari dominated F-1 to such an extent that viewership dropped. If the other teams and drivers did not have the guts or ability to mount the challenge on Ferrari and Schumi, its not a reason to say that F-1 nearly died coz of Schumi :) F-1 nearly died coz of other teams and drivers incompetence. But I gotto say, I always liked these Finns driving. Mika was Icecold, So is kimi. It reminds me of that guy in movie Topgun who was called Iceman. Clinical, No risks, Timing and heavy practice is what he was in that movie. But Schumi always reminds me of the Maverick . Passion, Fire and danger at its best. Will miss him for sure. Wont stop watching just coz he left, for sure

alonso has taught michael a thing or two in the past two years and one of them being - you're getting older, you're getting slower and u need to retire

wah...some conclusion drawn!! :bleh:

Schumi just got bored due to the lack of competion....as for Alfonso he aint teachin Schumi a damm thing!! :ohyeah: :bleh:

And abt the current season...there is reduced intensity coz i guess the so called wannabes proabaly dont know what to do without Schumi...mean their is no one to root or boo for...

As for our newspapers...i dont read anything abt F1 in them...coz whoever writes the articles doesnt seem to look beyond absolute figures...

And finally the Kimi n Massa in Ferrari!! Both these drivers were selected by Ferrari and put in the Sauber team....and look what there are doing...absolutely fantastic!! :hap2: :hap2:

The team i love is Ferrari...and the Drivers i root for are Kimi n Massa...and now the new boys Hamilton n Kubica. And i do have respect for the others like Heifeld..Fisi..

Ok If i do agree to all the excuses mentioned above...this page still doesnt run into more than 2 pages even after 24+ hrs of the race being over.

So tell me...wheres the hype about this times F1 season gone??:bleh:

Any good logical answers will be respected.
Edit: After reading the above post,
I can say that it could be a cause, but that doesnt stop f1 fans from watching the race and expressing their views does it??
So, in essence what can be concluded is that most of the ppl supporting Schumi were in it just for the sake of being cool??
I seriously doubt that. MS was cool coz he had class. He had what it takes to turn the face of a race. As far as F1 going predictable goes, as someone mentioned above it is due to the incompetence of the other drivers and other teams. I am sure most of you agree that last season was one of the best so far. No matter if Schumi didnt get the title. He showed the whole world why he is the best. I donot doubt any of you would challenge the fact that he drives really well??
But, if he drives well and has been the champ so many times, it has to be that he is in a different class than the rest.

Also, QF...
I did read the paper properly. The person/reporter in question actually went to the extent of writing about F1 being more interesting and exciting now that MS has gone, and also went to the extent of supporting Hamilton getting a podium finish:P which he did and I respect him for that.

However, bottomline is....as far as I see it atm, F1 discussions, print media, hype all is lesser than the last season.

I could easily put a spin on what you people have already spun. Schumi was good only because he was part of a good team. There are a whole bunch of drviers who could've done the same. But please, continue believing that Schumi's success was entirely due to his driving. That's why for the last two seasons, he has failed to win the championship. Due to his own incompetence. It definitely had nothing to do with the team.

As for media hype. You actually expect Indian media to care for F1 when you have the world cup going on? That is all.

Fisi is a good driver

The guy can't push the car to it's limit. He buckles under pressure. I'll admit though he did well holding his own against Massa.

A lil correction of facts here...Schumi went from a good team i.e Benetton to Ferrari in 1996. Ferrari then was a really a screwed up team with a bad car!! Schumi went there...took a handful of guys there with him and built a good team...
I am pretty sure not everyone can do that...Damon Hill coulndt do that with Arrows...Jacques Villenue couldnt do that with BAR...
Lets see what Alfonso can do with McLaren! :D :D
Schumi's success wasnt only due to his driving...his is a peoples person...he knows how to movtivate ppl and be a part of a team.

As for the last 2 years...the Renault was a really good car(and the starts they got!!)...with a reasonanly good driver they deserved to win...and lets not forget the Michellins were much better than the Bridgestones for most part

I have my doubts about what happened between Alonso and Hamilton after the second pitstops. Commentators think he was having some problems, but I felt Hamilton deliberately slowed down to let Alonso emerge into second because after Alonso's pitstop, Hamilton was way far behind and the difference in pit timing was only around .3 seconds or so. Great performance by Hamilton though. He looks like he could be the Tiger woods of the F1 scene.

Hamiltons second stop was 8.x seconds.... Alonso's was 6.x..... he gained 2 seconds there itself...

True..... True F1 fans recognise the sport for what it is and not just racing....they try understanding the technology, the strategy and everything.

anyways, comin back to the race...it was a no brainer really..it was kimi all the way from start to finish. i'd have taken hamilton ahead of alonso. lewis deserved to be 2nd after leading his champion team mate for the major portion of the race.

Lewis certainly deserved 2nd place..... He drove a fab race.... I felt really bad tht he couldnt get that 2nd place.

What the hell? McLaren finished without blowing itself up around the last lap? What the **** is the world coming to?? -_-
This is still just one race....the engines have to last 2 race weekends :P

Hahaha! Renault has really fallen short. I feel the car is okay but they lack good drivers. The very fact that they put all their hopes on fisi is proof enough.

Yeah..... the Renault car isnt good enough.

Well my friend.... here is a history lesson for you.

When Schumi joined in 1996 from Benetton, Ferrar iwere no where. He built it into the team it is today singelhandedly. He brought in Jean Todt, Ross Brawn, Paulo Martinelli..... They all rallied around him and he worked his ass off to make the Ferrari team what it is today.

And now, when they give him a good car, you say it is not his achievement ?? Every year, we have this same argument. I dont know why I bother knocking sense into people's heads...

People who want to put down Schumi will do that anyway....

BTW, the race wasnt too great.

The plain and simple reason for that is that the hooligans at TE who used to shout and scream about MS have nothing to wail about anymore. SO they have stopped littering the threads.

SO basically his exit has cleansed the discussion.

EDIT - and there you go now wait for them to pounce. old habits die hard esp bad habits. anyway I am glad he has left F1 and McLaren has improved in reliability or so it seems.

Three cheers for KIMI

All in all, a good race to begin with. Kimi just rocks. He's like a machine. Goes into the cockpit, drives flat-out, almost perfectly. With the reliability and speed of the Ferrari's he's sure to do well. I'm a little concerned about the Massa's car trouble during qualifying.

McLaren has always been my fav. team. I'm glad they completed on the podium. I think i will be a Lewis Hamilton supporter before Alonso's this year. He drives a mean race. Hope he doesnt fizzle out like Rosberg did last year.

I remember this time when I was watching a race at a pub around two years ago. The volume was turned down and Kimi had just won the race and was on the podium. There was this group of guys who were calling him Schumi :) and were talking how well he drove the race..Hehehe. was hilarious...

Schumi was F1 in India. I wont be surprised if people still look for him during races.

Someone was crazy enough :P
