Far Cry 3 - Discussion Thread

Actually in games these days the default difficulty level is hitting rock bottom.

The number of games like Demons Souls and Dark Souls are extremely less in recent times.

These days the emphasis is more on the experience than on gameplay itself.

I had decided long back to play all games on highest available difficulty setting.

Got my copy. Will start off after work.

Far cry was an entertainer, apart from being the most gorgeous game back in 2004. The hammed up dialogues, the mutant monkeys and terrain. Cannot afford to miss it.

Far cry 2 was a solid game, a little boring like all Ubisoft games. There is usually no flow at all.

The fetch tasks, enemies spawning within minutes of clearing out an area, mediocre gunplay were a letdown.

Hope the game is not boring, that's all I want from Ubisoft now.

Bang on there! There are fewer titles nowadays which are deemed hard because the average gamer cannot play it much (or cannot tolerate it rather) and skips it leaving a bad taste in the mouth and discouraging others as well with a bad feedback. So devs. instead have chosen to concentrate on the experience part wherein the difficulty and AI have been dumbed down by several levels. And then there's regenerating health!

Classic instance - Splinter Cell: Conviction! What was originally a Project I.G.I. title has now been marred beyond recognition!

Amen.

I don't even want to tell you what BIOWARE has done to modern RPG's.

BLACKLIST is being touted as a return to the roots but I really don't think any game will come back to what the franchise touched with Chaos Theory. Brutally good gameplay and nothing else.

Sorry for OT.

...

What bugged me the most was, the amount of bullets it takes to take down the animals is simply ridiculous! Head shots do not seem to have absolutely any effect either. Take Red Dead for instance, one clear shot at the forehead using a sniper and the Dead Eye skill (essentially slows down time) will kill the grizzly whereas it takes about 3 to 4 shots on the body. In this game however, no matter how many times you shoot the tiger or a leopard, it takes forever to bring the thing down! However, a weapon with a better damage stats can lessen the number of shots required.

This is bugging me as well. The shortcut to make any game a bit difficult seems to be the increased number of bullets required these days. They could have explored the melee and knife attack a bit more. Another thing I miss in the games is the variation of damage depending on the place you shoot at. Damn, I miss the game play of Bulletstorm :P

Fired it up only to see it crash multiple times to desktop after game starts. Frustrating.
faced the same thing. U need to update uplay and disable inlay for the game to work properly . Just start in safe mode, it will be fine.
Tried my hand on the multiplayer. Feels a lot like call of duty, plays like same too. Nothing to write home about. The better ping wins.
Add me in uplay id : krugur

They have mentioned 40 minutes of extra gameplay. Its upto you to decide if that is worth the Rs.300 extra.

I ordered the vanilla version. In the mean while , riding to meet Citra . Its fun just to idly roam around the jungle admiring the beauty of the game.

PS: Don't flame, I just couldn't resist the urge. Bro's in town and there is no time to lose.

I love the way the game has referenced quotes from Alice In Wonderland with the dark blob like characters morphing into the letters in a dark blue background. :D

Completed few more objectives yesterday but not much thanks to Dex and Homeland's recent episodes. There was finally a boss battle and it felt like meh! But the cutscene later was worth it. Will continue the rest today.

All I can say is - Wait for IT jojoman! :ohyeah:

There's more to Citra than meets the eye!

The opening quote of Assassin's Creed III and FARCRY 3 are the same
"In another moment down went Alice after it, never once considering how in the world she was to get out again."

Wow that's a bit awkward! :P

Wonder why Ubi did that!

UBISOFT Montreal was working on both games in tandem. Can be a bit of the insanity rubbed off.

Here is the quote I was referring to --
