Ferrari to hit Mumbai roads on Feb 25
Mansi Kapur | TNN

Mumbai: If you are a Ferrari fan, Marine Drive is the place you should be around 11 am on February 25. For, the men from Maranello—the home of the prancing horse in Italy—have made plans to unleash the ultimate supercar on Mumbai roads. The move is aimed at creating awareness that Ferrari will officially launch its models in India in the coming months. Farhaad Vijay Arora, spokesperson of the Ferrari dealership in India, however, declined to comment on the event. However, sources said that the F430 will be the first model from the stable to be brought into India. The F430 will be available in both the coupe and spider trims.
“The plan is to drive the Ferraris around Marine Drive for a couple of hours, so that it creates a definite impression that Ferrari is coming to India,’’ they said. The cars will be driven by trained Ferrari personnel, who will accompany the team of technicians. Enzo Ferrari—the most powerful naturally aspirated production car— might also be displayed. But Ferrari doesn’t have any immediate plans to launch this in India yet.
At present, Ferraris are imported by Mumbai-based National Garage, a distributor who has a tie-up with a Ferrari dealership in Singapore. “Work has already begun for the upcoming Ferrari showroom in south Mumbai and it should be functional in the next three months,’’ the source said. In the last 18 months, about two dozen Ferraris have been booked by Indian customers. This is in addition to about 36 Ferraris scorching Indian roads. While National Garage has been acting as the official channel since 2004, the formal presence of Ferrari will only add to the confidence of customers. Recently, Luca di Montezemolo, the chairman of Fiat SpA—the parent company of Ferrari—has stated that emerging markets like China and India are of crucial importance for the Italian supercar maker. Sources also said that the introduction of Ferraris in India has also been expedited because of Fiat’s alliance with homegrown automobile major Tata Motors.
“Fiat is keen to bring its luxury brands into India. After the Ferrari, the Maserati will follow. The company is also working on launching its Alfa Romeo brand in the country.’’

Hahahaha, Marine Drive dude, not very many potholes there. However, its not what anyone could call a great quality road either. Maybe the Mumbai - Pune expressway would have been better, but I have heard thats got potholes too.
However, its not quite great to have it on a monday. I cant make it there tomorrow!!! :(

Maybe those guys going there can have a mini meet there :bleh:
All the best, and if possible, get the pix. ;)
