UM3X are not for bassheads...they have good extended bass but not for bassheads..they have flat frequency response

SM3 do not have removable cable.

your best bet is to find a friend going to US.

SM3 @ 22k is way too high !!

Arrange someone who is US and is flying down to india , in next month or max by jan .

We can order him , and he can get us the SM3's .

Price according to my homework , for SM3's is 340$ .

I don't think you are going to be satisfied even with SM3 or with any other IEM. The bass quantity you seek is a little on the higher side from what I see in your first post. By requiring more bass than those marked "Basshead" levels of bass on dfkt's chart - Comparison of 46 IEMs (Spreadsheet) - Headphones - abi>>forums - I think you'll be underwhelmed by most.

Atrios as far as I know are bass-head IEMs. If you are unsatisfied with M5, I am not sure you'll be satisfied with TF10 either. Panas with replaceable cables could be an interesting choice too! But are way below your budget and I am not sure their bass is "enough" for you ;)

I'll keep it down to IE8 or Atrio M8. Probably a headphone like D5000?

Aside, EQ-ing D2 does not work out for you with Atrio M5 or VB?

^ yeah the DFKT's chart shows that VB has basshead quality bass

your last bet is to audition the IE8,

if IE8s dont satisfy you , go for customs. which will cost a lot more.

As of now, I am confused between the below

IE 8-- Strong Bass,Replaceable cables

SM3-- Great reviews,Triple driver. I am very very curious to test these

UM3x-- Good reviews, triple driver, Replaceable cables

I want to wait for some time, so that any of the dealers here might get them to INDIA>. Why is Amarbir not trying to get Westone/Earsonics?

UM3X will not satisfy your bass needs , ask benny he has auditioned them.

out of the above IE8 only might satisfy your bass needs.

I am really confused right now.I want a sound quality which is top notch,I should be able to hear all the sounds, along with some good bass. The earphones I heard so far have the bass but I feel something is missing. I have decided to be ok with a little low quantity of bass, hence wanted to go for SM3.

Frankly, as per DFKT VB has best bass, but I never felt it like that(Treble was far better than M5). In fact I felt the strongest bass was there in VMODA bass freq buds. ( Only bass is very good with these, treble was toooo harsh). Also M5 has over all better bass than the VB, provided the tips are shure foams.

Conclusion: Planning for Sm3. Reason being if I an not satisfied with the bass, I can go for customs. The only negative point being fixed cables.

SM3 is a good choice , even if you dont like them you can sell them at the price you bought them for ( considering you dont use ICCworld...no one shall pay 22K for a universal ( excluding the final audio $1000 one ))

SM3 does not have top-notch build quality for the price you pay. You have to be careful using it considering both price and availability. Still, I'd say go for IE8. See if you get lucky to audition one. SM3 is a good IEM, no doubt, but I doubt if you'll be fine with it's bass.

Hippo VB has more sub-bass, probably much more than most. But, it's mid-bass quantity is "small", which is why you feel Atrio M5 has "more bass". What you need is more mid-bass quantity and IE8 would provide you that. Besides that, you can get it locally too with warranty. Just find a reliable source to buy.

You wont be happy with the bass of SM3,IE8 seems to be perfect for you,the built quality is great too.

^+1 MID bass of IE8 is more than any IEM !! some get annoyed cause of it (yeah that much )

also it has option to tone down the bass also.

audition them before you buy, as they wont sell for a good price if you want to sell.

SM3's bass is good and quantity is also good but you can not compare it to a basshead IEM like IE8 or the MTPGold
but am sure of you can source them at around 15K ..many might be interested in SM3 (1-10 days old)@15K, so they are a safer bet.

Just get a Re1 + AloRx.....instant audio nirvana. :P
Re1's detailing, midrange and add to that the aloRx's bass, power you cannot go wrong.
You can always upgrade your iem later, the AloRx is a keeper, especially for its bass section.
Only downside is that you will have to strap on the AloRx to your iPod/Fuze.

alo Rx alone costs around $600 ...isnt that too much for someone looking for 20K iem !!

BTW, yeah they are at the pinnacle of portable amps, paiir it with some thing like the Pico DAC/AlgoRhythm Solo(for apple products) and get a complete Highest end portable setup.

Just my opinion but portable amps are kind of over rated.I personally wouldn't call a player >> nice fat interconnect >> amp >> IEM setup as portable and I say this after using the Pico Slim for 2-3 weeks :P.

Hmmm,. .. in my words , if its weighs less than a 1/2 KG (the complete setup ) ..is small enough to put inside a bag ....and has a good battery life ...its portable. the ALO has a bettery life of 15+ hrs.

otherwise get the HM-801 , you wont even need a desktop amp with most Full sized headphones.

, I say this after trying the HM602 with my AKG702. they are able to drive them nicely.

BTW faheem at what level do you hear the AKG K702 with the maverick D1. i mean what %(approx) in the D1's potentiometer.

So the HM602 High gain at 100% drives them about the max for you with D1

as HM602's High gain 100% =D1's 50- 55% for AKG K702

DAC is better, treble extension is better in the HM602, lows are the same. but still if you hear at 50-60% ...then you are good with HM602+K702 !! no extras and extension is better. quality is same if not better.

this is in comparison to the Maverick D1.

power wise its a lot better than Sflo , SQ am still testing ...Sflo is buggy as hell as of now, its not buggy ..its unusable ..it doubt all the Sflo2 are this way there must be some firmware problem with mine...i will reinstall the firmware then test again. thats why i have asked anubhav to wait as well

HM on the other hand has simple menu nothing flashy so hs lightening fast menu ...no bugs in the menu ...10/10 in that regard. has all the basic functions ..and no extra function...no features-no bugs. unlike the Sflo ...loads of feature-loads of bugs

NOTE: i am sure my Sflo's firmware is to blame ...many have reported that reinstalling the firmware solves this issue.will try and update! SO DONT TAKE THIS AS A FINAL SAY!
