First gold medal after 1980 for INDIA

Wow...

First ever Individual Gold Medal

Ironically this year, the Indian Hockey team which was the only(and regular pre 1980) gold medal winning team hasnt qualified for the Olympics for the first time.
 
First GOLD for India in my lifetime :D

Luckily I was watching it on DD sports when it happened. And even medal ceremony as well. :D
 
i was literally crying while watching the national anthem ceremony happening...cant believe it happened in beijing

moment of glory but a bit sad too

it took us more than 25 years to get a gold , in a population of 100+ crores.

still i m optimistic for future

Abhinav is the "ONE"

He has become the most special sportsman in Indian History. Unfortunately, he wont be celebrated like the cricketers. But yeah, he will receive gifts and incentives worth crores. Hell, yeah...he deserves it!!!!!

I just hope with all the money and contracts he receive he starts an academy where sports person can work on......except tennis i hardly see or know any clinics exist in INDIA..or atleast for rifles training stuff...heard this ppl dont even have ammunition for practice and they have to go abroad for training for such silly reasons...
 
Lets hope that he gets the credit 'he' deserves rather than the babudom getting any leverage out of it. Dont be surprised if you see interviews in which the babus will proclaim how they have some hand or the other in promoting Bindra or the sport itself in India.

Bravo Bindra, your name would be forever etched in the history of Indian sports with golden ink! The first one is always special.

He will probably buy a nice house and start some plush restaurant :P

I wouldnt blame him though...

It is the Govt that has to take initiative in setting up facilities instead of themselves stealing the taxpayers money.

Look at Mayawati...She paid 26.26 Cr as income tax and claims she gets the money as gifts from her admirers :@

I can understand(though I cant) politicians pocketing few crores, but cannot fathom why they steal 100s of crores... soulless, immoral, corrupt people without an iota of conscience.
