i wrote that on purpose......hockey was replaced as top sport...football was not even close except in NE states and Goa..and the whole nation embraced cricket..the impact of 83 wc was more than this...let us accept the fact..except hockey(with astroturf...even this looks in trouble) and football...not other sport can become a mass sport..india can lead in some of the athletic events...nation will still not pick it up..these sports r not of easy pick up variety.
