CPU/Mobo Fixing Double boot for Abit Motherboard

I've abit IP35-E motherboard. I heard even updating bios can not fix Double booting problem.. Even I heard from some members that they've fixed it.. If anyone from TE.. Please tell me how do I fix that double boot problem??

Is updating from Flash Menu safe? or I should do it using bootable disc and switches?:S
 
^BIOS 15 even has FSB Resets, Change to 12. No FSB resets, no panga at all except DUAL BOOT, but you get everything else stable! BEST is 12.
 
I gave up on the IP35-E board because of the DOUBLE BOOT problem, its a problem that does not seem will go away with a BIOS update.

I used to be worried that the DOUBLE BOOTING would not be good for my HDDs and now I find that this is a fact. 2 of my 320GB HDDs are showing "raw read error" in LAKHS when checked by SMART, I am certain the DOUBLE BOOTING has created this problem with these HDDs. :(

I switch off my system often in a day because I often change FANS, HDDs and GFX cards and this is why my system was very vulnerable to problems from the DOUBLE BOOTING bug.

My IP35-E board died after 10 days use and I did not accept a same board as replacement, I took another brand of P35 MoBo instead. NO MORE ABIT FOR ME !! :no:

EDIT: after I returned my IP35-E board I saw a post in a thread for a possible solution for the DOUBLE BOOT bug, it was suggested to select in BIOS the option to "restart the system when power returns" instead of the default one which is something to the effect "let the computer stay off when power returns". I cannot remember the exact wording of these options in the BIOS. :)

If you try it do post here and mention if it does make a difference.
 
yup that helped me ;) i tried that option when i first got it .. but you have to change that everytime the bios gets reset as the default setting is set to "always power-on".
@Rahul : As far as BIOS updates are concerned, they will not make a difference, at the moment my mobo is sitting on the latest i.e 18th and so far not any visible difference.
 
Updating from flash menu didn't help. I tried it. You have to make a bootable floppy/usb and use the /wb switch to fix it.

I had tried the /wb switch, it did not help, I used to flash the BIOS from a bootable USB pen drive :(

For most people this is not really a major issue, but I power off and reboot many times a day and the constant DOUBLE BOOT on restart caused 2 of my HDDs to have read errors showing up in SMART, my ABIT IP35-E died in 10 days time so I dont own this board anymore.

@shashank_re - when you power the computer off from the wall socket and then restart it later the IP35-E MoBo powers everything ON for one second and immediately powers everything OFF for about one seconds and then again it powers ON, this happens only if the power from the wall socket has been switched off. I always felt that this Powering ON-OFF-ON of the HDDs could not be good for them. For this problem to show up the MoBo has to be completely powered off which is indicated by the LED on the MoBo going OFF, which means that you have to use a dual pole power switch (like me) or you need to pull out the plug from the wall socket. This problem will not show up if the computer is re-started from a stand-by mode.

Anyways did you try removing and reinserting the CMOS battery from MB?
 
Bhak the double boot does not make any issue double boot is not a problem its more like an auto post dont worry it hardl take a sec. Most of the time you don't even come to know.

Do you think powering a HDD ON-OFF-ON in 2 seconds will not harm the HDD ? Am I being unnecessarily PARANOID ?

If you touch a HDD you can feel it powering ON OFF ON during this short period. When I took the MoBo back to the supplier they attached a HDD to see this DOUBLE BOOT for themselves and their HDD was making a grinding sound during the DOUBLE BOOT, my HDDs did not do this. :)
 
with the amount of crashes and experiments that I do.... I have to hard boot, reset and what not.... so double boot is least of my worries.... I have a small HDD on each on my comps with full backups... so no worries for me....

Otherwise.... RMA hai na :bleh:

Double boot doesnt annoy me mcuh...

All oder bios versions except 12 hv a prob of FSB reset wch is much more annoying than d double boot..

Double boot is ok ---- it will take jus 3secz of ur life.. :ohyeah: :ohyeah:
 
Seriously, im using the new Ip35-E board rahul and till now i never had one just one double boot at all.

Guess im lucky :)

Didn't know it was that serious. Before the flash, mine booted twice only when overclocking. After flashing, even that has vanished. Seems i got lucky. But yea, i did notice the double boot affecting the hdd. My main boot drive used to act up once a while too. Thank god it works well now!
 
I would sporadically face that problem when I started using Abit IP 35E . But I changed the BIOS and I havent experienced a single double Boot since then . :)

Sorry guys,I dont have that info as I am in office right now. :ashamed:

I will get back with the BIOS version and setting tomorrow .
