Bought a Sansui 1 Ton 5 star split AC. Should the power to AC be connected to meter directly? Can i not extend it from my room's board? Also, is 2.5 sq mm wire enough for the AC and how do i check whether i already have 2.5 sq mm wire running from meter to my house? Can i check it by opening one of the switch boards in my house and checking the wires?
And is it judicious to install the indoor unit on a wall with its exterior (west) facing direct sunlight?
Kinda newbie in these things. Thanks in advance.

outdoor unit should not be in direct sunlight, for a 1 ton you may not need new wiring , i run 1.5 ton Acs with 35 year old wiring direct from wall socket .

Should the power to AC be connected to meter directly?

Not Necessary , if your Room has necessary capacity wire you will be good to use them directly.

Can i not extend it from my room's board?

yes , it's comoon practice to use it from Room's already lying cable.

Also, is 2.5 sq mm wire enough for the AC

It's More than Enough. 2.5 sqmm is good for upto 15 AMP , and your 1 TON ac current will hover around 6-8 AMP

how do i check whether i already have 2.5 sq mm wire running from meter to my house?

Just openb the room any switch board and cable rating will be mention on board .

Can i check it by opening one of the switch boards in my house and checking the wires?

yes.

judicious to install the indoor unit on a wall with its exterior (west) facing direct sunlight?

It's good practice to install to outdoor where there's no direct sunlight so in summer compressor will stay cool .but if you have to install at sun facing location just make FRP roof over it

Bro the correct way is to go to your electricity suppler and deposit the amount for the 1.5 ton AC . They will give you the extra load needed to operate th AC and install a new 15 AMP meter , if you follow any other steps you will be fined .
