Hi, guys i have creative 2.1 speakers, last month they stopped working , i connected my friend's adapter and speakers worked. After searching for an adapter in many computer shops i found that noone sells an adapter for the creative 2.1 speakers. I got my adapter repaired for Rs. 190, the shop guy said he changed the transformer, i asked the shopguy what had happened to the adapter, the shopguy said maybe because of voltage fluctuations or short circuit the adapter went bad. This is for all you guys who want to fix their creative 2.1 speakers adapter issue :) anyone wants to throw some light on this topic . please ......... you are the most invited .. Cheers :)

Frankly speaking... it's not necessary to find Creative-only power adapter, you can buy any normal power adaptor with same voltage/amp output rating, and similar pin. I've creative 2.1 speakers and power adapter is rated at 11.5V and 600mA. Just buy any adapter with same output rating and same pin and you're set.

the only difference is that the creative adapter has AC output, but most other adapters are DC output, but the speakers work wine with DC input :)

^ I had got my creative's adapter repaired ~ 2years back when they stopped working... cost me abut 100 bucks.... They do just fine... otherwise get a replacement.... any Chinese with correct & required rating would do...

For Indian makes & would recommend Maxcon made which are pretty good... :)

are you sure adapter do AC to AC ?

may be the rectifier circuit is on the AMp in the woofer Box :cool2:

all adapters do AC-AC. thats the job of the transformer. the rectifier is usually in the adapter itself, but in this case , as you said , its in the woofer's box :)

the repair guy said , do not use an alternate adapter because it might damage your speakers, better repair it and use it. :)

That is... well a partial truth. One of those Chinese knock-offs with questionable parts quality might damage your equipments. But a good adapter with same ratings will work just fine. Plus, if the repair guy uses cheap and/or wrong parts to fix your adapter it will damage your speakers the same. So, you see it goes both ways... unless the repair guy is very reliable and uses genuine parts it won't be a problem, similarly using a good quality adapter will serve your purpose. :)

I do have the same problem.I went to buy new one, they said the original one will cost around Rs.425.

Two years back, my friend also had his adapter for his 5.1 gone faulty. He had no other option other than to make a custom one which he did. The customized adapter worked well except that it was making a humming sound sometimes:S and was little bulky.
