As the topic says, need 2 pairs of formal shoes...for office :ohyeah:

The thing is this would be the first time I'll be wearing leather/formal shoes, so don't have much of an idea which are comfortable and all and in my mind all leather/formal shoes are uncomfy.

Before this I have only wore them during Interview days, some local brand shoes that fit me...and they have been a PITA everytime I have wore them.

Need something which feels like some good sport shoes, can be wore without the legs crying all the time, and the brand should make size 11 shoes, this is a must as local brands like Liberty only make 9 and sometimes 10 sizes shoes...

Suggestions regarding which is a good brand to go for, which are the most comfortable (again, as comfy as good qualtiy sport shoes) will be appreciated.

Budget is 3k for a pair, and will stretch upto 4.5k if they are really really good.

Cheers

Deepak

florsheim (mines made in india) :P have one and feels like i'm wearing an extra pair of socks .. but i dont really pay attention to brands .. just go to a mall or shoe shop and keep trying shoes till you find one that you are comfortable with.. avoid the stiffer ones as they get creased after a while

Where do I get theese "florsheim"

Oh and the thing is with the local shoes that I do have rite now, when I wear them they are pretty ok...Its after about 3 to 4 hours of walking/lying (on the college stairs) around with these that they start to hurt, so dont wanna judge shoes by just 4 or 5 minutes of wearing em and finding out the first day of Office that I have made one of the biggest mistakes of my life.

Another vote for Florsheim

You can find Florheim stores in any decent mall/shopping cmplx in your area....

Actually another old brand is my favorite in terms of comfort...Hush Puppies....the only problem with them is that the original levelof comfort goes down in 5-6 mnths when the insole flattens out

when I wear them they are pretty ok...Its after about 3 to 4 hours of walking/lying (on the college stairs) around with these that they start to hurt,

I have a feeling you are wearing one size small than what you need

Other than the length of your feet, the shoes should also fit properly sideways which seems to be the problem in your case

i think abhis right and you are wearing slightly small shoes that pinch. try out the comfortech which i got its pretty flexible.

about hp, my dad got a pair of hush puppies but after being left in the cupboard for a few months the sole crumbled when he took it out . so use your shoes every now and then or keep a pac of the silica beads in the box. these should come with the shoes mostly

So Hush Puppies, comfortech and Florsheim, whats the range on these? Also, in a Mall I should be looking for shoes stores right, the ones who stock all kinds of shoes, cause I havent seen dedicated showrooms for these...

Oh and how are Woodland, Lee Cooper (they do make shoes na) and other common brands?

comfortech is a label by florsheim not a seperate brand :) you can browse here http://www.florsheim.com. they have a dedicated showroom at spencers mall here in chennai but most malls carry their brand in the shoe section and shoe shops as well.

woodland and lee cooper i thought they were semi formal ? no idea about them though

yup hush puppies are around 2k and up .. florsheim is around 3k and up

and have a look at other brands too.. these arent the end all in shoes

IIRC, Larger BATA outets stocked Hush Puppies and Floorsheim.:)

Also good shoe boutiques should have them.

Most Lee Coopers and Woodlands have semi-formal ones- but after careful browsing, some should fit your need.
Lee cooper had one nice almost plain simple one in Black and Tan/Dark Tan with leather laces/strings- my friend got fed up with them after a few years- neither the upper nor the sole gave up on his- so he started using them as rainy shoes and they still went on.:P

But another friend's nice looking Dark Tan shoes- actualy almost boot like- gave up onthe seams/stitches in a few months.
Woodlands have fared better overall with any of the ones my friends had.

Bumping an old thread as did not want to open a new one.

Which would be a good shoe polish for leather shoes ? I have heard that those instant shine bottles are not good for leather ?
Should one go for separate cream and brush one?

Cream and brush rocks!

I use Cherry Blossom cream with normal shoe brush...

Also a cloth/napkin to shine/polish it after brushing...

Out of Lee Cooper, Bata (Wind series) and Hush Puppies, I liked HP most. For your budget, you can pick up a good pair of HP. Two tests- 1. Feel the inner lining of shoes with your hand. If it feels good to your hand, will feel good to your feet two. 2. Try them and walk a bit in the shop to get the real feel.
