Which one are you getting chaos ??

BTW, I suggest everyone to post here what they are using to play.

I am using a Microsoft Sidewinder force feedback joystick with all the effets set to FULL but Force feedback strength to ZERO :P
 
I tried it with keyboard but couldn't control it well. PS2 controller works well though. Best timing so far with PS2 controller is 2:45 :(
 
I'll try it today... maybe with mouse too. BTW, we can play together on the internet. Somebody can start the server and others can join.

BTW, this is with ALL settings off... Traction control, ABS, DSC.

They should have at least had a tutorial section like in GTR 2. Or at least AI. by observing the AI, we could learn how to take the corners....

And what abt the suspension settings ? any way to change the other settings ??

Which track you guys playing on ?? I am practicing on the GP track.... not the Sprint track.
 
Logitech Momo - 2:18 without a lot of effort...will post a replay later maybe.

@montylee - You MUST use a mouse. It is WAAAY better than using a keyboard!

@Nikhil - 2:48?! and why are you trying to drift? :P

Stop the HERO-GIRI late braking and retarded speeds around turns. One must remember, braking very late into a turn might give you like 0.05s gain but 95% of the time you're going to run wide or lose so much speed that you'll lose literally some 3-4seconds on every turn.

I suggest people start posting replays along with their times. I'm in for a game if we are a sufficient number of people. Anytime after 7:30 - 8 is OK with me. People!! start getting your times under 2:20.
 
GAH!!! I don't know which one I've been playing but its the longer one - the one where people have good laptimes of ~2:14 or so. The shorter track is some 1:44 or so I think.

To watch the replay - On the main menu -> Replays -> Load my HOTLAP file.

To race against my "ghost car", start Time trial, Nuerburgring-> Grand Prix. Click Load/Save and Load my Timetrial. Cross the start/finish line and you'll find my car in front/behind you :ohyeah:
 
Got a high 2:14.8xx with a gamepad :)

Never brake late, not even for the hairpins. It's the biggest racing blunder one can make (remember Alonso and Kubica at Magny-Cours? :P).
The trick to setting a fast time isn't to attain the fastest speeds one can at the end of the straights but to be able to carry as much of that speed around the corners.

So brake early and smoothly, and set yourself up for correct corner entry.
Turn up the tyre scrubbing sound volume and make sure you don't hear any when braking and/or cornering.

Bind a button to the handbrake and use it when cornering to induce oversteer. The rest is upto how well you can apply opposite lock and maintain the proper throttle inputs.

There are no setup options other than wheel and suspension type. The reason being this car wasn't built for racing and is bound to have little or no modifiable parameters.
 
2:20 is so far my best. Got a momo yesterday... still getting used to it :P. It doesnt really feel like a car and i was doing really bad when I was trying to drive it like my car throwing it at the corners :P. If I was racing my real car on the ckt, I'm sure I'd do a lot better :rofl:. There was understeer galore. However once I got used to it, the game is lots of fun.

have you tried another car on the same track in gtr2 to compare handling ?

anyways now you know how my car felt at mmsc :lol:
 
Post Timetrial laps! When you do a timetrial lap, save it! post post!! Lets have a online race tonight ^o ? 8pm-1am. Who's in? If there's very few of us, we'll join some common online server.
