Oh, I see it now.

Cottons defaults to 40°C and goes upto 95°C

Cottons (plus) defaults to 60°C and that is the max temperature it allows.

Cottons has better performance by combining various drum motions. Presumably this is the cycle that uses 6 motion to the fullest extent.

Cottons (plus) offers 'optimised performance' so this is the shorter duration Cottons program.

Can anyone confirm this difference in duration between the two Cottons programs?

If you find it doesn't clean as well then you will have to use the regular Cottons program which I imagine will take as long as mine.

Was this using the Cottons (plus) program?

That's a good hour saved on a full load. And these mid range models don't even have a recirculation pump IIANM

I have one cottons cycle on my machine that cleans well and since it runs overnight I don't care how long it takes.

No, Just Cotton Cycle which has AI DD. Cotton+ doesn't have that. Cotton+ might be better tuned for larger cotton items like bedsheets. However, I am yet to find the effective difference.
 
on our 1st try with 6 body towels somemore, the display was showing 4hr 29mins for Cotton+

Edit : just did a test with Cotton+, it was 2hr 30 mins, with nothing inside the drum. Same test done on Cotton was about 1hr 10-15 min.

Got that from a board in Singapore

I'm starting to think Cottons+ is just another name for Cotton Eco. Optimised means in terms of energy. So run time increases. Not wash quality.

Does that apply for LG too?

If LG's Cottons+ program is less vigorous then I suppose it will be more gentle but then you lose out on the better wash quality you would get with the default Cottons program.

If you clothes are light to medium soil then you may get away with Cottons+

Ya i thought it was cotton plus. The way they designed the knob to select modes is just stupid, that light is confusing at times to see which one is actually selected.

Another big gripe of mine :bawling:

There is no confusion with my dial. Why screw it up in the name of modern design

In your case if 95 lights up then you're good.

hey folks, are there any current recommendations for a Front loading detergent? I looked up the thread here and the recommendations seemed to be old, dont mind spending extra as on a better one

Using Henko powder 4+2 kg pack. I run express wash 99% of the time. Found no difference between surf / this etc. Henko smells better.

Rest inhouse expert @blr_p knows better.

Find what works for you. For me that is Surf. I prefer powder to liquid as it cleans better and is easy to dose compared to liquids.

However if you want to know the present state of affairs with front loading detergents then start reading from here

The only rule to follow with front load detergents is stick to branded detergents that usually specify whether for front or top loader and not cheap out

How long is express wash on your machine? If I recall there is no display on your machine so unless you time it you won't know.


This IFB Express program is 15 minutes long. Fine for the small load used

Definitely not for full loads. IFB has no load detect so you might even get away with it.

Read back a page or two to find out why.

The way to wreck your machine sooner than otherwise is express wash + cheap detergent.

I find a number of people falling into this trap of quick/express cycles :grumpy:

and just an update on the machine, ordered one from LG, now LG is ****ing me over on the cashback thing, I was an idiot and did not see the "instant cashback" thing, and assumed cashback would be credited after the order, but I didnt receive any CB, and am out almost 3k, have escalated it with LG customer care and HDFC CC dept, and taken screenshots too, so let's see how this thing goes
