Hi,
its around year old and the reason for sale is that I have the Bold now. Its an Airtel handset however I got it unlocked through Airtel. Prefer buyers in Delhi. Phone works great however the back is has a couple of scratches because of surface contact.

How abt BES & BIS sevices?

I am told that PIN is locked by the Operator & user (You) and needs to be released before the same can be reused.

Also, AIrtel BB can't be used with Vodafone or any other operator NW. U can only use the phone sevices but not BIS/BES.

Pl clarify the above

Thanks

Whats BES/BIS services?

Blackberry (BB) has patented BB enterprise service & BIS - BB INternet services.
BES- A company needs to instal a BB Enterprise server connected to their email server. ALso the have to buy CAL - a user lic to allow the BB to rx push emails, calendar synch etc. This is used by executives on the move to rx & respond to emails.

BIS - BB Internet services. This allows Internet access on BB devices.

Many oreators like airtel, Tata, Reliance donot allow BES/BIS sevices on BB devices which are NOT bought from them.

You need to register the PIN/IMEI with the carrier BB website for eg. airtel.blackberry.com

If u get a message that the deivice u r trying to register is from a different service provider - means u can't use BES/BIS services from this carrier. So ur BB will be just a phone with SMS service in CDMA case. Howeve in GSM, u can config TCP settings & use Internet GPRS.

Carriers like airtel/vodafone charge a flat fee for BB BIS service which is abt Rs 1100 pm for unlimited Data & abt Rs 500 for 500kb of data.

@IdleWild - Pl excuse for clarifying these queries on ur thread.

Its just a info to all as its big time issue releasing pin from indian service provider like airtel and vodafone. unlock here means any sim can be used for gsm but for blackberry services pin needs to be released else no one can use it.

Are you on vodafone? The phone has been unlocked by Airtel itself (I can forward you the email from their cc). Basically they give you the pin if you tell them you have to use the phone with a local sim card abroad.

Abt the BB services, I dont know. I think its best if you find it from your carrier. You can also call Airtel at 7070 (frm an Airtel line) and ask them. Its better if you ask them since you will be satisfied and wont be in doubt.

This is what the Airtel CC asked me and then I got a call and they gave me a pin.

this is for sim unlock code so that u can use any operator what people discussed here is once ur pin register with airtel and its like xxx@airtel.blackberry.com they wont release it so eaisly so till the time it wont released u can not use so unlock code is diff and this is diff

Have a query... Do u get BB screen protetor or skins in India? Where can i get it?

Just bought Sprint BB 8830 for 15K, unlocked it myself & want to protect it from scratces etc.

Pl advise

Thanks.
