hi. Someone today stole petrol from my Discover :( It was sheer luck that only about 1.5L was stolen. I'd filled it completely with 10L. I noticed this only after my bike refuced to start after driving about half a km. The pipe from the fuel on/off tap was disconnected. And all this happened when I'd parked my bike right outside my house! :(

Is there any way to avoid this in the future? Are there any metal pipe alternatives available instead of the rubber pipe? ( I dunno why the manufactures provide a flimsy rubber pipe! that pipe is the most crucial element )
 
i think there;s a fuel lock device available for most bikes , which has a key and lock mechanism , the fuel doest come out even if u remove the rubber tube if its locked , i had it fitted on my pulasr long time back ,

they will remove the original one from ur bike and replace the similar with key lock one , simple , thats the only solution AFAIK
 
I have got this lock in my bike. 6 years and not even a single instance of fuel stealing from my bike so far.

BAH...its so easy to steal fuel from the bike's fuel tank. Even I suffered this. Just started making random visits to the parking whenever I had the time. My second precaution was not to fill it up all way, but guess my usage for the day and some surplus on it.
 
even i have a discover but fitted with a fuel lock.

it costs about 150 rs.

best solution, no trouble even after 3 years :)
 
Yes, thanks. I'll do that when I take my bike in for the next service. I also need to replace the ride control switch with an engine kill switch.
 
I had my revenge once and actually found the thief. Here is my share of story.

During college days after R&D with everything the theif never gave up and was always ahead few steps stealing petrol from bike i used to own then.

So i set aside my bike for 2 weeks asked my friend to pick me up.These 2 weeks i mixed lots of sugar in petrol tank of my bike and left it temptingly displayed.Ofcourse i wasn't using my bike.

2 days later the boy in next building had a chocked piston in his bike . Later on inquiring found out he was hand in glove with the shady watchmen who for measly few bucks abetted his crime.

The news of sugar in petrol spread like a wild fire and i was all those years left to alone,untroubled with right on every drop of fuel that i purchased.

wow...that was unique..well planeed revenge.....but when you did start using the bike did you have any sort of problem???

A scooter is supposed to be the best built 2 wheeler ever. I don't think there is any way of stealing petrol apart from opening the petrol tank and sucking out the petrol using a straw

Yes but how well can its smaller wheels handle road bumps over a larger diameter wheel for a bike ?

Bike can handle a pothole better than a scooter, course if its a ditch then you're SOL, but i'm assuming you don't ride with your lights off :P

Maybe it can't. But it sure can handle load! A whole family + luggage! Its my dads most priced possession. You can't even carry a loaf of bread on a bike without juggling it around. :)

This is the same reason I am holding to my Bajaj Chetak.

I am waiting to give it a Good Paint Check this out Black N Chrome Painted Chetak

But before that need to get hold of a Job.

BTW, Has your dad taken it to the speed of 80Km/hr anytime

Which Chetak model does he have?

How much average does it give now?

I have the 1993 model.

my dads scoot is nearing 30 years! :D It gives around 35kpl i think... Dad makes sure the speed stays below 45 :P

Wow That's really old.

Is it the renamed Vespa or the Bajaj itself ?

Nice to know that I am not the only user of a Bajaj Chetak.
