Looking to get a server build for proxmox. keeping few points in mind.

1. Low TDP processor
2. CPU High core counts
3. Minimum 2 NVME Slot
4. 128GB DDR4 Ram

i want a balanced approach and not looking for DDR5 based setup. Server CPUs in second hand market is cheap but have higher TDP, low performance and server motherboard costs a lot. I don't want to spend a lot but i have components that seems to be better value based build.

Intel 12400f + Asus H610M DDR4 seems a good starting option.. I am exploring more if something better is out there.

To give you some perspective, I recently built a server using minisforum MS-01 (13900H, 32GB) paired with RTX 2000 ADA in similar budget as yours (~120k). It's an immensely powerful machine running local LLMs, hosting websites, databases and a cloud gaming server simultaneously. I have perplexity pro and this thing beats it (on shorter context window) while being faster (fits upto 27b Gemma 3). All while sipping ~40W when idle (ubuntu server + firewall + adguard home), and ~160W under load (cloud gaming/llm). I can make a separate thread if you're interested.

Hi, looking for something in desktop/server and not mini one because i need atleast 64gb, ssd upgrade pcie slots, sata ssds, hdd for future upgrades.

I believe a 5950x today lies in the goldy locks zone for you. It's not too expensive but still has 32threads. Has a TDP of just 105watts.
Supports for 128GB ECC memory.
And can be had in the second hand market for less than 40k with a decent motherboard. Pair it with a A2000 for another 10k and Bob's your uncle. 15k for the Ram, PSU and cabinet and you have a server that's half the price of what the other guy spent (with used components)
