Graphic Cards "G92" GeForce 9800 GTX Rumored Specs

Frankly speaking, the performance of the current DX10 cards in DX10 enabled games is a joke. It may be because of poorly coding on the games side, but an FPS below 50 FPS for a top of the line Graphics card in any game released within 6 months of the cards release is still something to think about.

The drivers need time to mature, cause Directx 10 is just out and so is Vista over a period of time you will see the true performance of the 88XX cards in DX10 games :evil1:

crap...card was purchased around 10 days ago... there goes my chance
are evga's available in india? if u bought ur card in states just return it ,most stores (if not all) have a 30day full refund exchange policy!

I just bought a 8800GTS 320MB yesterday! Now this news... Specs, if true, are delicious.... where do i sign up? :)

@Lord_Nem: Agreed. In fact the 8800 series should not have been for DX10 at all. There was no need. But they're great on most of the DX9 titles, now Oblivion runs much better over the 7900GS. HDR+AA really looks pretty. Can't wait to see what G92 DX10 does to me... hehe

The G92 is rumoured to be three times faster the 8800GTX

So to compare .. ATI's R600 is like 450 GigaFlop. But in all honesty .. many roads lead to Rome and there are many ways to interpret the measurement of a Gigaflop. According to le Inq NVIDIA says it's G92 high-end graphics card will deliver almost a teraflop of computing performance.

In an analyst webcast, Nvidian Michael Hara says that the chip will be ready for Christmas, a release cycle the company adopted with G80, where high-end products come out for Chrimbo and the mid-range and low-end products hit in the spring.

This suggests a couple of things. One, that the delays we saw to the release of Nvidia hardware through 2006 and 2007 have now been factored into the schedule, to a point where we're going to see yearly updates of the high-end part every Q4. This is pretty nifty. Second, Nvidia doesn't see the benefit in releasing all three ranges of cards together, preferring to let the 'halo' effect of the high-end card provide a few months of advanced marketing for the mid-range parts.

Second, it puts DAAMIT between a rock and a hard place. AMD is readying Barcelona, and Intel is preparing its own native quad-core chip in Nehalem to hit at the same time. ATI will be prepping the R600 refresh for the end of the year and Nvidia will be hitting with the GeForce 9800. Tough stuff.

The actual power of G92 might surprise some. The 8800 can rustle up about 330Gflops, which means the green team is suggesting that the 9800 could be three times more powerful. If that's true, the question remains - why bother? What games are going to take advantage of that? If the answer is Crysis at 2560x1600, Nvidia better hope that the game doesn't slip much further than it already has.

9800GTX...I hope my step-up program still holds good by november...Its 6 months na???

The step up program is 3 months, but is not always such a great deal.

For example;

If you paid $350.00 for a card... but the price drops and the EVGA recommended retail is $300 after 3 months.... and.... the new card can be bought for $600.00 @ NewEgg, but the EVGA recommended retail is $675.00; you would pay the difference of $300.00 and $675.00.

Lets say you were lucky enough to get a great deal on the card new, and it is less than Recommended retail, you would then, still have to pay the greater price difference from the paid price not the recommended retail.

by the looks of thing its gona take time for the drivers to mature and make it stable enough for the DX10 cards.
ASFA the crysis and UT3 engine is concerned UT3 engine is already in use by many ppl and it looks awsome(Bioshock,Rainbowsix Vegas,......)Crysis & UT3 are multiplatform engine which supports PS3 and the X360 also but its all gona depend on the developers how they use the engine and optimize the games.
Soo i dont think this card is worth buying for atleast a year cuz the 8800 GTX is enough to stand its ground for another 1 year.By that time the 9 series cards hit the market with stable drives and a decent pricing (lets say 30k)
this is just wht i thnk dont know how much will be true

9800 series is a necessity for people who want to play DirectX10 as the 8800 series sucks in those games...

IMO 8800 series is a failure...not business wise for Nvidia, but surely didnt deliver what was expected...

AMD did a shitty job with the R600...delayed forever and then delievered an erratic card that didnt hit value nor satisfied enthusiasts....That sure helped sales for Nvidia as people with itchy fingers had to buy something...

9800 series hopefully will be a huge hit in all perspectives...

Nov-Dec is a great time to debut the 9800....And it better give close to 3 times the perfomance of 8800GTX, given the perfomance of the 8800 card in directX10.....

I got an 8800GTS and I feel let down by the card, especially with the monitor I have....

i know dude the spec looks very tempting even i want one just by loking at the specs but i'de rather wait for a the price to come down and overclock the GTX if i cud
but then again as u said its a need for some :p

specs are looking great!

but lets see if it turns out to be wut they claim...

if the prices look good then i might be tempted in to picking one up too :bleh:

No point flogging a dying horse...

my card is giving playable fps at 1680x1050 on almost all current games, barring oblivion and fear (which i play at 1280x960).....

i still see no point in upgrading this year, i'll push my card to the limit this fall.....perhaps next year :p with x800series (lol nvidia will start trailing ati in names) :p

i think rather than spilling out more hardware, nvidia needs to work a lot on using directx 10 platform....there's no way card as strong as 8800gtx can give 25fps in call of juarez at normal res :/

the total amount of money ur paying might be a little higher, but take into consideration ur shipping in ur 90days old card which nobody would buy at the price u paid it not even near, and no other company offers this kindof deal u buy a card u forget it for the next 1-2yrs but this keeps u in hope for 3months ! so all in all its a very good option! and ur not payin any premium for that either!
