I can see faint black shades on low brightness when dark black color is displayed not a major issue though.

Glad you got a replacement finally. But Samsung shouldn't have taken this long (almost a month?) considering the customer has spent close to 30k for a brand new device which btw is their flagship high-end phone!

yeah i know..and i had run from pillar to post to get samsung to replace the phone. Samsung's after sales support is definitely lacking as compared to Apple and HTC. Had to shoot a mail to the head of customer service india, to force the service center to take responsibility. In the end I am happy as I have got the replacement

I have a samsung galaxy s2,, it works just fine...No problems of screen what so ever...Its made in korea...
The screen is just perfect, the blacks are excellent,,never seen on any other..(not even LED TVS)
Been using for around 15 days...Not found any hues, or tinges of any kind..
So,the yellow tinge u guys are mentioning may be found in china version or old models..

yeah the screen is terrific and would have been perfect if it dint have so many issues. Mind you all these issues are subtle & no one will notice them during normal use unless you are looking for them & know how to find them.

So far all the s2s that i have seen do have a bit of yellowish tinge on the left side even on so called on perfect ones. Its just that on some pieces as my previous one it can be very easily noticed as my entire screen was yellowish tinted compared to other s2s.

Theres no perfect s2 anywhere in terms of screen quality. I am hoping supercurio from xda will release a fix as he did for the sgs1, that will take care of the color balance & banding issues.

I am pretty much sure your handset also has the yellow tinge on the left...just try reducing your brightness to ~10% and in a dark room, load a page with a grey background or just pull down the notification bar & check.

I have spent over two months running around Samsung regarding the similar issue, even after taking the issue to top officials, it was delayed over a month citing stock issues.

^ actually in my case after giving the samsung customer care & service center a piece of my mind, they agreed to issue a DOA, against which my dealer gave a brand new sealed pack phone with a current bill effectively increasing my warranty period to 13 months

I have exhausted 1 GB of my data usage within 2 days!!!! don't know how!!

PhoneUsage shows the following:

WTH is wrong? A minute of browsing consumes 2-3MB and while I am asleep it consumes around 300MB in a night!!! What to do??

same blue hue on my gs2. bt on home screen there is no blue hue. is that a problem or only software problem ?

Err, that hue is intentional and not a problem.

It tells you that you can scroll horizontally (there's a Keypad tab on the left in this pic).

Got myself a sgs2 for Rs.25899 from a local dealer & free Sandisk 16GB Micro SD card
Had rejected 2 pieces with faulty screens(firmware with 2.3.5) . Got the one with 2.3.4 with no screen issues.Manufactured and assembled in korea.

Me too. It isn't a big issue, but what will the CC do if i go and getit checked. Will they change the screen

Sent from a Galaxy in the S2 system

^ its sounds like your dealer sold you phones which were not the official indian version. In india the latest firmware is KF3 and its 2.3.3. And regarding the place of manufacture, it doesnot matter whether your phone is made in korea or china, as I have seen both versions having display issues. Only thing is that in some its pronounced and in others its not, but all SGS2 have the screen issues.

No they wont until and unless you can convince them that its a defect & affecting the phone's usability.

i think my SGS2 also has the same yellowish tinge issue on the l.h.s but only discernible under very low screen backlight/almost down to "0" ...& particularly if the background is plain pure white or something very light in colour!...i & my lazy bones dontnot feel much abt it for deserving a replacement...untill it's really broke,i dont think there is any pressing requirement to fix it!

whats the latest software update for S2, officially?

2.3.4 OR 2.3.5 ??

The latest official firmware for the indian SGS2 is XWKF3 ie 2.3.3. Although 2.3.4 & subsequently 2.3.5 has also been released worldwide, there is no confirmation as on date that they would be released in india.

The very latest official firmware is KJ3 ie 2.3.5, you can download it & flash using Odin. It wont void your warranty as the binary counter in your phone wont be increased by flashing official ROM.

Not mine, my colleague dropped her SG2 in the wash basin while the tap was still open - and yeah seems water entered inside.

Switched off immediately, taken the battery out - dried for sometime in the hand drier. :)

Since it wasn't switching on ....she took that to a Samsung service station (Salt Lake, Kolkata). The guy there told her the display/screen, motherboard (and something else, she forgot) etc got damaged and need replacement which would cost around 19K. :(

My query, is there any other way out for this situation? a li'l cheaper option, if any?

(well, her husband bought that for 30K, and now if repairing costs another 20K, thats gonna be damn costly phone. :P )

Yeah...that's the bane for all costly phone including sgs2...can't really help it! :|

if ur female collrgue has frisky fingers instead of getting the sgs2 repaired for 20K(u never know how the repair works out),tell her to get a defy+ for 16-17k(ur cheaper option),...she can practically do anything with it(including throwing it in water basins, pools or rivers) & still be running happy!:D

I still miss my stolen defy:(
