Our s4 (i9500) has a different chip set (octa core ) than the snap dragon (i9505) hence the difference between the two and the inability to root ours yet .

@jinvidia I think your warranty will end first as there are not many Devs who are working on Exynos S4, did you see the XDA Dev forum? No Proper ROMs or not much Customization for Exynos...

Omg if this situation continues then samsung will start making exynos phones which is a treat for app developers who sell apps through Google play

Anyway i am not going to root mine even in that case. But next time i will be cautious before opting for a Samsung phone.

I had rooted my s3 within warranty as it had no knox and installed cm 10.1 about six months back . Although light weight and fast somehow it always had some bugs and fc's . So switched back to stock and currently on 4.3 . Wife is using it now and she finds stock more than adequate and most importantly stable . ( rooting and unrooting s3 i9300 did not void warranty ) . S4 is fast has a great display and does not hang at all so need for root does not arise at all . Will try when warranty expires next april . Btw using moto g first gen as my second phone is awesome . Fast to use and great screen . Good battery life too . [emoji1]

@ankushv, rooting is not only for flashing custom ROMs or making it fast but also for debloating and Xposed Framework to add additional features to your stock ROM and etc.... :)

@paarkhi Bro i do know why we root and what it means to install xposed framework and remove bloat ware . Doing it since my galaxy y days . But when you need a phone for work the rom needs to be stable with good battery life ... in my experience with the Android phones i own ( galaxy y , galaxy note , galaxy grand duos , s3 and s4 ) i always found stock rom is always the best .

Bro, root is required for some full version apps to work and it is not that it is needed only for custom roms. Samsung could have at the most decided to deny warranty for installing custom rom ignoring root rom flash.

Does flashing official rom with odin trigger knox ? Some forum posts say that it will
Technically it shouldn't and it doesn't but you never know so if you are concerned about Knox (warranty) don't flash anything via ODIN during the warranty. Just stay with OTA

Stock ROM with Root debloated and Xposed can also be stable and doesn't mean it becomes unstable. just my $0.02

But what in case if the firmware is to be re flashed ?. I always prefer flashing a rom from my local hdd and i have been doing this since i got my tab 2. Is there any safe way of offline flashing ?. I hope kites will do it but dont think its easy as odin.

It's not Kites but Kies and ODIN is meant to be safe if you only flash the stock untouched firmware (downloaded from Sammobiles.com)

Flashing an unrooted phone via kies is possible , i have flashed all my Samsung phones with kies but it takes a very long time . Where as odin is very quick .
