Ok thanks but i am not going to reflash it now anyway. Thank you very much guys will inform you if there is a safer way of rooting our device.

Out of curiosity, i asked Samsung CC if flashing official FW with odin would void warranty and the reply is YES. The reason is Odin is not a software developed by samsung and it hard resets the phone and then reflashes the FW unlike Kies which does it directly. Following this reply i asked him why does the device have a download/odin mode when odin is not their application, he just replied that he doesnt know about that and all he knows is it has to be done through Kies and there is no way of updating or re-flashing the FW without an internet connection as in the case of Odin.

To be frank , i was under the impression that sammobile belongs to samsung, but i was shocked to hear this from the CC guy.

And today i came to know that 3rd party file managers like the ES file manager and solid file manager refuse to create/rename/delete folders and this operation is restricted only to the default file manager which is a crap. I thought that atleast it can do some tasks like deleting a folder but now it is too frustrating to know that it became useless on account of the BS kitkat .

There are certain apps which give write access to SD card but root priviliges are a must to empower those apps.

Guys seriously now i am pissed off. Samsung has gone nuts...

Never a Samsung again...

So it seems it depends upon the device. But is there anyone who is successful in doing it with a i9500 ?

It's not Kites but Kies and ODIN is meant to be safe if you only flash the stock untouched firmware (downloaded from Sammobiles.com)

Hey dude have you tried to flash official fw on a i9500 with odin without tripping knox or atleast the binary counter ?

I own a i9500, and have many times flashed the official firmware releases through odin, without tripping the binary counter, however once my warranty was over i tripped it in my attempt to try out MIUI.

Sorry I never cared about Knox and Binary counter since day 1 of the purchase.

Thats brave dude. And did you experience any performance issues or issues like some functionality of the phone like gestures or other features disabled after rooting your phone ?. According to CC rooting causes potential damage to the phone. I am not ready to believe this crap however i would like to get this confirmed.
thanx

Rooting in itself doesn't cause any potential damage and no performance issues or features disabled or functionality compromised atleast on Samsung devices, in short all gestures working, What is XDA for if we face any such problems ;)

Well said.. But honestly i have not sought for any help from xda members. But now i am hell bent in resetting knox if i root my phone so hereafter i have to...

What do you mean by private mode mate ?. I don't have any knowledge about knox except the warranty information.
