Ok, so DMC4 seems to have good reviews and I have been planning to try out witcher anyway.

Most ppl seem to recommend a controller for these type of games.

1. Is it that much useful? Cos I have always used keyboards :ashamed:

2. How much of a diff does vibration make? and is it available on cheap controllers?

3. So wats a good controller cost? n cheap ones too? I saw a logitech one with my dealer. How is it?

Just bought a X360 controller for 1.8k specially for DMC-4.

U r better off with the rumble IMO. Kinda adds to the virtual reality feel. GRID feels gr8 with the rumble, so does DMC-4.

U can also opt for the cheaper LOGITECH RUMBLEPAD 2(arnd 1.1k). But i feel the X360 controller is more aesthetically designed and comfortable.

BTW, Logitech also has launched a clone of the X360 controller called the CHILLSTREAM, heres a pic:

Your call

rumblepad 2 and x360 controller are pretty much equivalent..

if poss get ur hands on both nd see which ur more comfy with.

also consider the logi wireless controller for 2k odd or slightly less. me have it.. awesome :)

@mithun - 1.8k is atleast 500 bucks more than current market price

:@ :@ yes, i knew that. But over here evn the X360 wired controller sells for 2.2k in the malls, and 1.9k in retail PC outlets:no: ....evn the grey market rates r not below 1.5k

malls and stores will always have it at mrp or a shade lower..

its the computer bazaar thats the place to buy this sorta stuff.

If you are planning to get a controller for Witcher its a waste cause the game doesnt support controllers.

And if you are getting one anyways get a X360 one, because most of the games today are GAMES FOR WINDOWS certified, and if the game is GOW certified and supports controllers, you can use a X360 without any hassles as the game has been tested using the X360 controller in order to get the GOW certification

Trust me it is worth every penny you pay for it.Imagine playing POP with mouse+keyboard which is a nightmare if you ask me.Games like DMC4 requires some quick combos to rev up your style rank & that is better pulled off with a controller.

If you ask me I care less about the vibration these days. It's just a fancy feature for sometime then it starts cramping your hand or atleast mine does. The cheap ones do have this feature but it's not fully compatible with all games. You'll have a separate mini-disc bundled with these controllers which have a vibration driver which you need to install to get it to work.I repeat again not all games support vibration in these cheap controllers.

The one I got was for Rs.400.You can get it at a lower price at Lamington road of the same brand or it's native clones.Logitech ones cost 1k onwards which have rumble feature but not too sure though.

it's a real pity that most games support only XBOX 360 controller by default.

For e.g. DMC4 supports both XBOX360 and PS2 style controller but it shows the mapping only for XBOX 360 controller. This thing forces the users to buy one particular controller.

i had got an MX518 recently thought it wud be usefull for DMC 4

but i was dissapointed knwin the fact that mouse can only b used in the menu :P

but i played the game with the KB ..... and i guess i am getting the catch of it ...

i never liked controllers my i already gifted my PS2 and PS1 to my cousin's

It's some weird brand called Dilong.I have never heard of it's name before. It's an exact PS2 controller replica.

logitech is 1050 here with my dealer. lets c if he manages to get the xbox one too. Wats the diff between the 2?

You mean between the Logitech rumblepad & Xbox 360 controller.Nothing much except for the controls which are placed differently. The Logitech's has the usual PS2 like key placements but the 360's comtroller is very different. It has the D-Pad placed besides the analog stick & the standard action buttons(A, B, X & Y), One additional analog stick on the top left hand side, select & start button & 2 shoulder buttons.Of course the usual centre Xbox key in the centre used on the console for going back to the dashboard.

Also the Xbox 360 is gaining more compatibility with a lot of titles & the keys are pre-adjusted in many games.Especially the ones which are GFW based games.

@Ethan ,...Is the dilongs controller compatible with different genres of games like RPG,Racing,FPS, etc??

what is the lowest price for xbox360 controller in lamington road, where can i get it lamington road (name of the shop)

You guys worry too much.. Just a get an el cheapo QHMPL dual analog game controller for Rs. 200 and install the generic vibration drivers ubiquitously available on the net. Works great

I haven't tried all genres but had got is mostly to play DMC 4 & that got customised instantly.Grid picked it up without an issue.POP:WW worked.I didn't try FPS (Why would one do that? :bleh:) & RPG is a far cry as I hate those games to the core. These controllers usually have good compatibility rate so don't worry about it too much.

i have the 400 bux dilong controller too...
playd grid with it...no vibration..but no other probs...
also tried assassins creed and trackmania...no probs...
use pinnacle game profiler....u can assign a host of functions to the ctlr keys...even macros i think...
i catually dld it for grid coz i wasnt able to navigate menus with ctlr thru generic support...pinnacle did the job..!

why use a poorly coded software for making game profiles when there is an open source alternative written in assembly language called autohotkey. It is simple to code and works with all generic and oem hardware. Hell you can define actions for your analog controller. I use it for some games/emulators which do not even support joystick input. And you can make custom profiles for everthing and its portable. I even hate the logitech setpoint crap. Too many cpu cycles wasted on proprietary algorithms.
