Is House of the Dead good? I never played it
 
The original Doom, followed by Half Life introduced me to gaming. After crossing half life on hard, most games seemed like a walk in the park. I play Dota competitively.

I never got half life in my childhood, I mean I never understood what it was. Why?

Went to my friend's place. He told me about this cool game called Half Life which he had bought. We spent the next 3 hours waiting for it's update to get completed. Back to GTA San Andreas!

Well you have my sympathies then. Half Life is one of the greatest games in the history of gaming. Hell, it even holds the Guinness Record for the 'Best selling FPS of All Time (PC)'.

You still have the chance to play it and not get bored. The visuals may be a let down though. Or you can choose to wait until the total conversion for HL is out i.e. Black Mesa.

I think I will give it another shot then. Indeed I heard a lot about it even before I finally played it back in 2010. I don't know what happened. Maybe it was all those other games like Crysis and all that I was playing(had got my PC at end of 2009)

HL1 and 2 are the best games for a gamer,great gameplay,puzzles and the story,characters itself make you fell like you're there so better give it a try you'll love it,dying to hear some news from valve about the 3rd part.

first time i played half life was in the night at 11 when i was in school... freaked out seriously... it gets worse as we go along.. now it seems corny especially the graphics.. but back then this and doom were really freaky:) back then we had an awesome time playing nfs2 also, especially 2 player split screen...
 
Remove all Sandbox games they make you a lazy incompetent gamer. Examples are GTA and similar games.

SIMS should be banned. Same goes for all the similar games that waste your time and reach no objective.

FIFA !! are u kidding me go and play on a field.
Rest all are fine as everyone has put it.

Special Mention :

AGE OF EMPIRES 2 I don't think there has been a better game than AOE 2 till now.

HALF LIFE each and every version ROCKED THIS WORLD. If you are a gamer finish it off first.

DIRT/GRID Play these racing games and master every other racing game.

About Half Life, yeah the graphics are a bit dated, the introduction too long, but once you dive into it, you'll experience amazing encounters that you'll remember your entire gaming life. I have literally fallen off my chair while playing this game, those damn head crabs in the tunnels...

Me too. I'm fine with CS:GO (which is MINDBLOWING btw, got beta). The game looks like Battlefield 3(I swear) but runs smooth all out on IGP Intel HD3000.

And Dota 2 and everything is great(I heard about a Counter Strike Online too). But we seriously NEED the FINAL HALF LIFE game, as after HL2 and all the episodes, I'm dying to finish

Claw used to be my favourite back then. More so because after tonnes of practice, I mastered every level to the point that I collected all the gems in each level (barring the last one - The Temple and The Docks which had a bug).

And with a measly 56kbps dialup BSNL internet connection back then, I uploaded the scores to the online server. I stood fourth on that list back in 1999. It has come down to seventh now. Proof from a cached website - Link

I have downloaded the .MIDI tracks of all the 14 levels. The game is available for free download as on today and is hardly 30MB. But wouldn't work on Vista or 7. I think I tried back in Vista.
