Hi Gang,

  1. What is your budget?
    • 25K appx (Less if possible)
  2. What is your existing hardware configuration (component name - component brand and model)
    • CPU - AMD 720 BE
    • Motherboard - Asus M4A785TDV-EVO
    • GPU - NVIDIA 750 TI, 2 GB
    • RAM - Transcend 2+2+2 GB 1333MHZ
    • Monitor - Benq 24 inch FULL HD
    • PSU - Corsair CX430
    • Seagate HDD
    • CASE - CM Elite
  3. Which hardware will you be keeping (component name - component brand and model)
    • GPU, Monitor, HDD, PSU
  4. Which hardware component are you looking to buy (component name). If you have already decided on a configuration then please mention the (component brand and model) as well, this will help us in fine tuning your requirement.
    • CPU
    • DDR4 Mobo
    • DDR4 RAM
    • CASE
    • SSD (Enough for OS and 1-2 games)
  5. Is this going to be your final configuration or you would be adding/upgrading a component in near future. If yes then please mention when and which component
    • Won't upgrade for another 3-4 years :)

    • Been using AMD for last 16 years. Would prefer Intel for a change.

  11. What is your preferred monitor resolution for gaming and normal usage

  13. Which operating system do you intend to use with this configuration?
    • Windows 7 64 bit


Looking for good clock speed and which runs reasonably cool on stock. Not interested in OCing. My 6 year old processor finally died. Guess it's a good time to upgrade as any?
Also for B'lore folks, any options for online purchase/local home delivery of components?

Any options to get an i5 and a cheaper motherboard. I can extend budget upto 30k if so. A quad core i5 seems better placed than the i3 in the long run even though gaming benchamrks are quite similar now, right?

i5-6500 would stretch your budget by approx 6k from above config with same mobo. If you can re-use case, you can fit in i5 in 30k budget.

I bought my components 5 years back from Computerwarehouse, but site seems to be down all day.

Finally got all my components -
  • CPU - Intel Core i5 6500
  • Motherboard - Gigabyte GA-B150M-D3H
  • RAM - Corsair Vengeance LPX 8GB 2400Mhz DDR4
  • CASE - Antec GX200
  • TOTAL - 30000. A little more than estimated, but I got it all home delivered and setup.
Skipped the SSD for now, went with better motherboard. Will think about it couple months down the lane.
