GeForce 8600 and GeForce 8300 are the two series of graphics cards which will fill the void beneath NVIDIA's already launched 8800 series. Based on the G84 core 8600 Ultra and GT will have 64 and 48 shader processors respectively with cores running at 500MHz and 350MHz. With a 256-bit memory bus and memory speeds at 1400MHz and 1200MHz the cards will replace the 7600 series of today. The launch date for these cards is about the same as for when ATI will launch R600, that is, around CeBIT at the start of March. Except from the 8600 series Bear Eyes has also published specifications for 8300 GT and 8300 GS (via VR-Zone).

These cards will replace the 7300 series of today and is based on the G86, an 80nm core. The number of shader processors has been halved to 32 and 24 respectively, while both cores will work at 500MHz. The GT model will have slightly faster memories though, 1200MHz vs. 1000MHz. With a 128-bit bus and up to 256MB the performance will most likely be reflected by the price.

8800gts 320mb for $300 is wicked

But I think decreasing memory would cripple the cards performance in future games. Lesser memory makes sense for a 8600 or 8300 but not for 8800GTS. :) would be better to spend the exta $100 and go for the 640MB version.

So when can we see cards like G84 core 8600 Ultra in india and for how much?? Also how will this be compared to a 7900gt??

The 8600GT will beat the hell out of a 7900GT....8600ultra will be somwhere near the X1950XTX levels in terms of performance

So the 86Ul will only COMPARE to the 1950xtx ??? not exceed it ???? Hmmm..... i thot that the dx10 cards would be better in performance than the current cards ...... But still for that price, it would be awesome.....Hope i can find a US friend till that time ...heheh

Yeah, the 320MB will be a bottleneck for the card. This is similar to the 256Mb version of 1900XT.

This is ironic 'coz every year better, faster cards are released with much more power than their predecessor at very good price point but then the new games they are intended for are so graphicaly demanding that they seem to be bottlenecked.... :'(

6600GT was a faster better card than 9800 Pro with very attractive price but then with newer games it didn't coped well... Yes processing power is increasing but so does the requirement for games so I believe that even these cards would be better than current DX9 cards but they will lead us to same old insecurity that some game might not play....:angel1:

But then we as a customers are really fools & we will always buy them to fullfill our desires.... I know I damn will, for sure..:! :! :!

Agree 100%...320MB of 320bit memory is a steal @ 100$ US :ohyeah:

agree with GHOST.
lets have a GO very next day of its release :hap2:
and, another thing -
NO EXTRA POWER CONNECTOR
