My busy life and internet made me miss this thread
Anyway here goes.
1. TE is not perfect, nothing is perfect. With the amount of members we have there are bound to be some who will ask stupid / noob questions again and again.
2. Dont expect TE to be as it was 3 years back. When TE was formed we all knew each other before hand. It was select group of tech enthusiast with common interest. It was not a surprise we got along very well and the content seems to be of our relevance.
This wont be case now. Lots of average ( CHIP-TT type
) content will be here as those people have migrated to TE
3. Its almost impossible to immediately put end to nuisance created by some members immediately. Mods are not online 24x7 neither do we have no of staff members as large as say XS ( popular forum compared to TE these days
) and neither do we have as much traffic yet. So there are bound to be some missed threads that will not be moderated even if they do need moderation. If yous spot those threads, report em.
4. And comeon lighten up people. Ignore General talk
5. I know there are quiet a few members who have no regard to others. What Anish posted there is nothing compared to few members in their 20s who think they are oversmart and can say whatever they want to anyone. I have seen this change in them in past few months. And I know its personality spill over of some other members who have similar mentality
Not taking any names here for the sake of whatever respect I have left for them.
6. Arun has issue, its very clear. Even i posted something about him when he was very new. But when I came to know about his condition I had PMed him and apologized personally. There is nothing wrong in saying sorry when you know you are wrong. Lots of his post will need moderation. Some of it will not make any sense. There is nothing much that can be done about it other that reporting his posts. If mods can figure out what he wants to say, they will correct it or delete it. But some posts will fall through the hole.
7. About some members. Well we have lost some members because of their egos. Face it, thats the fact.
We lost some because of a thing called as LIFE.
Even I am getting less and less time now a days to spend on TE. ( This will change soon enough after my job change soon but till then it will remain like this. )
We lost some members because they didnt get what they wanted.Some thought they can get away with anything. Some of them expected whatever they say or think is the only way and thats why we have lost some good members who has some good things to share. Some of them still exist and on purpose try to make things bad here. You can easily see that from their posts.
Those people dont understand whats the meaning of the word community. You dont always get what you want. If you want things to change, you can start from yourself. Want better content? Start posting better content.
Greed and ego wont take you far. Some ego is good but if you dont learn where to stop you might be successful and popular but you will not get respect.
