hello everyone,

as my search for IEM ended with Sennheiser IE80(made lots n lots of bad choices before that like monster............ohh terrible), i'm planning on getting a starter audiophile grade headphone, for a starter i would like to spend not more than 7-7.5k so i was considering HD558 and AT m50 (they r out of stock apparently at prestinenote's).what r my other options would like the headphone to come with a removable cable.the headphone should be a full sized around ear one.comfort is an big issue cause i'll also be using them to watch movies n all

IE80's signature best suit's me kinda warm n good punky bass at the same time not overpowering or shadowing the mids.i listen to rock, pop, hip hop, country and basically all kind of music.havE ONLY owned Bose n Sony headphones previously.

also consider Beyerdynamic and AKG.. both of these are excellent brands.. i bought my Audio Technica AD700 from pristine note . my max budget was 6K.

i am not sure if you will get any AKG in your budget or even if its available anywhere in India. check out the beyerdynamic DT series..

plz. dont buy BOSE.. if u buy that, and later on get an opportunity to hear anyone of these Audio technicas, AKG's and beyerdynamics, you will start banging your head on another wrong decision..

Puneet is right that you should stay away from Bose, monster, beats audio, klipsch as these are just brands known for their marketing and not sound quality. They are rubbish.

For your price range I would say you can get a grado sr80i if you want a open back.

exactly.. .i dont understand why people create such a big fuss over bose and these new beats audio.. my friend was gonna buy a laptop, and he got excited in a few hp models coz they had frikkin awesome BEATS audio by Dr. Dre.. i mean what the hell can you possibly get in nipple sized laptop speakers.. and whats all to get psyched about beats audio. just because its a Dr. Dre brand..

all these brands are absolutely rubbish that i've come across.. BEATS, BOSE is bad for the money.. maybe if they reduced the price tag it could compete in a lower category.. Monster, Skullcandy..skullcandy is one of the worst among all these that i have seen.. i mean its so bad i feel like puking when i look at them.. i dont know why people rate it so highly..

hey guys lolzz i know all that now as i wrote monster was a disaster, i want to know my options??

how r the a700's??

but i heard from the users itself that it lacks bass, the the bass it tight but not impact full, and also its not full sized and the cable is also not replaceable.

will the 558 shine without an amp??cause i really don't wanna go far an amp for now.

If you need bass you better wait for a m50 to come in stock , ad700 lacks bass , plus they cover my ear completely.

M50 would be probably the closes that would come to the IE80 experience in the specified budget. If you are willing to try something different and don't mind a slightly low quantity of bass along with extremely detailed midrange + treble and one of the best soundstage under 10k , get the AT-AD700 . They are open back , full size, extremely comfortable and lightweight.
The open design adds the amazing soundstage but it also mean some amount of sounds leaks outside and isolation is a little lesser than closed cans .

Read up a little more on the trade-offs between open vs closed cans to get a clear picture

+1 for M50 if they're available. If not, get a Grado Sr80i or a AD700. Skip the Sennheisers. They fail to impress me compared to the mentioned headphones.

I haven't tried the D1100 so can't really say if its better than the M50 or no. I have tried the D1001, D2k and the D5k. Hence can say that D5k > D2k > M50 > D1001.

Aren't the m50's selling at close to 10k now?

The Fischer FA-011 is a great can, much nicer than the m50 to my ears. Owned both for quite sometime.

Why the monster bashing?! The MDTs, the trumpets and the coppers sounded fine to me!
