The name's Bond, James Bond. Yes sire ladies and gentlemen, our favorite British Spy has been revived by Activision, in what seems to be an HD remake of Wii version of GoldenEye 007.

As expected, GoldenEye Reloaded is an HD update of the Wii original FPS, coming to Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, publisher Activision has announced. GoldenEye 007: Reloaded is built on a new engine by Eurocom, the same developer behind the original release. It's due to be released this fall.

Reloaded will offer "HD visuals and realistic environments running at 60-frames per second," Activision says. As well as remaking the Wii game's campaign with updated visuals, it'll introduce a new 'Mi6 Ops Missions' mode. Set on new maps, not recycling the campaign, the Mi6 Missions will challenge players to complete various assault, elimination, stealth and defense objectives.

On the multiplayer front, Reloaded will support GoldenEye's four-player split-screen multiplayer, plus 16-player online multiplayer "with more maps, weapons, characters and game modes than ever before."

There will also be PlayStation Move support on PlayStation 3, which will likely mimic the way the game was originally played on Wii.

This is the closest we'll get to a modern remake of Rare's N64 classic GoldenEye 007, as Rare has commented that game's "locked in a no-man's land" due to licensing issues, split between Nintendo, Microsoft, Activision, and others. Eurocom's game is technically a new title based upon the original James Bond movie, though it clearly took a few pointers from Rare's game and doesn't mind being mistaken for it. Rare itself developed an Xbox Live Arcade port of the original N64 GoldenEye 007 at one point, but couldn't secure the rights to release it.

Re: GoldenEye 007: Reloaded announced for X360 & PS3 (Bond fans assemble!)

Always wondered how come Bond franchise hasnt got any decent games out there.. esp after Batman AA struck gold and with gameplay of Uncharted series.. surely they can think and plan something..

The Nintendo Wii edition scored a decent 8.5, so hoping this one does well..

Lil Summary for the nintendo edition:-

The Good:

Great mix of stealth and action sequences

Lots of variety, including boss fights and vehicle sections

Harder difficulties add new objectives

Striving for par times makes you play the game in a new way

Multiplayer is fun both online and offline.

The Bad:

Quick-time events and unskippable cutscenes are obtrusive

A lil fun fact: The theme song for the bond movies was prepared for a Bollywood movie.

But due to less amount offered for the song, it was sold to hollywood instead.

I hate how the modern Bond games have turned up into a "Call of Duty" affair. Where are the f*ckin gadgets? Stealth mechanics? variety in levels?

I really hope they go back to draw board and start from scratch. Take a cue from James Bond 007: Everything or Nothing, if you want to do it the right way. That's how a true Bond game should be. Let's hope this one offers something different.

Till Shit-ivision don't expect anything better.

Re: GoldenEye 007: Reloaded announced for X360 & PS3 (Bond fans assemble!)

I saw IGN's video review of the Wii version and it looks alright. They have replaced Brosnan and have added Craig to the storyline. Looked like an outright shooter on most counts. IGN folks seemed to be impressed of how well it turned out to be for a "Wii" game. Looks like there are hardly any FPS games worth playing on the Wii. :P

An English friend of mine still plays COD4 MP on his wii, so i guess not :P

Re: GoldenEye 007: Reloaded announced for X360 & PS3 (Bond fans assemble!)

the game engine seems like the one used in COD4++ :P ???

Re: GoldenEye 007: Reloaded announced for X360 & PS3 (Bond fans assemble!)

its high time people should realize that modern warfare or cod4 was a cult.It brought a revolution in the fps genre.
anyways its a pity that some developers are borrowing elements from it unnecessarily which ultimately makes it unimpressive.

I own a Wii and I've played GoldenEye. It's such an awesome game and it's nothing like COD. It has the complete Bond feel to it. And the stealth missions were especially awesome and challenging. Not the easy on-rails affair like in the COD games, but still with a lot of tension and excitement.

I felt the game was really crippled by the Wii's power. But this HD remake seems awesome :yeah:!!!!

I'll take your word for it then. :)

I was mainly referring to Quantum of Solace & Blood Stone. While the latter was a bit better in terms of gameplay and mission variety. If you have played Everything or Nothing, then all of these games would feel like dust being blown away. ;)

Re: GoldenEye 007: Reloaded announced for X360 & PS3 (Bond fans assemble!)

^^That later one got a mediocre score/review.Is it really good?

Re: GoldenEye 007: Reloaded announced for X360 & PS3 (Bond fans assemble!)

Mediocre at the best. Better than Quantum of Solace for sure, but not a proper Bond game.

So just completed Bond of Duty: Mordern Warfare Reloaded this morning. What is that you ask? Well it's our very own James Bond being sent to a boot camp at Infinity Ward and returning as, in what seems to be, a full blown military hero. By now you guys must have probably guessed the obvious notion of it's gameplay. I won't take much of your time and ask potential players to skipitty-skip this game. The only thing I would have to really appreciate Eurocom (the developers), is the amazing quality of the port. Full 60fps, enhanced visuals, good textures and lighting details etc. Apart from that, it's just your average CoD clone minus a small amount of stealth (if I can call it that). The only gadget you have in this game is your cell-phone, with which you can hack doors, sentry bots, gather intel etc. You also get night-vision goggles, which you would hardly need, since I could literally fire my way blindly through this game. Music is good and voice acting is decent enough. But the essence of being a secret British spy is completely lost. I could go on about it, but trust me, it's not worth wasting your time on. Sorry Bond fans, you better hope that some developers snap out of first person shoot-em-all 007 game and probably achieve something along the lines of Everything or Nothing. :(

Just completed Golden eye on xbox 360, it was quite an enjoyable game... good one time play... really enjoyed the last boss fight. :)

Looking forward to it. It does seem to be a decent game going by the reviews albeit stealth sequences does seem to have been lessened for a Bond title. :)
