LGA 775 is not so outdated as u think......
It will be in use even in 2010 and 2011.....
And the biggest advantage of LGA 775 is that it supports quad core 45 nm pcocessors which should get u going for a long time.

Selling items (especially G31 mobos) does'nt come to my mind very easily because there is high chance that even a year later the mobo u are debating about will become outdated and no one will want to buy it ..............

You mean it's not "as" outdated  (not a gramatical correction, im using sarcasm to point out the irony in your usuage of the word "outdated" for both the G31 and the LGA775 platform)
Going by your release date logic... nah, i probably shouldn't apply that here.
And i never said it was outdated, i said it was an ageing platform.

So you're saying a year from now no one will buy G31, but people will buy G43 or whatever mobo you're backing, just like right now, when the G31 was released a year ago, people are still buying the G43 more right?

oh..................
come on.........
u fail to get my point every time....

I said that LGA 775 is not so bad since it supports core 2 quad 45 nm processors which should get u a long way unless u need something that hard.

Also , secondly I did'nt say that g31 will be completely outdated next year, but it will be difficult to sell a G31 based board in the second hand market.I had faced this problem previously when i tried to sell my socket 478 based board but no one took it since LGA 775 was already in the market.

quite a nice and informative thread ( also entertaining ) ; I was also considering the same cpu+mobo combo for my next upgrade. But when see the spec of g31 - only 4gb ram,2 pci and pci 16x 1.0 - I was bit surprised and hesitant.

So you guys are saying 4gb ddr2 will enough for descent gaming in Windows 7 ?

bandwidth provided by pci 16x is enough for any entry level vfm (4670 or 4770 or 9600gt) graphics card - Will pci 16x 2.0 be overkill for this level of graphics card combining with e5200 procyy and 4gb of ddr2 ram ?

For E5200, The G31 based mobo is good enough..........
But if u plan to upgrade later to a quad core and use a better GPU and more RAM, then going for the G43/P45 chipset is better.

Allright guys, showtime is over. The OP made it clear he wants the board only for e5200 and that's it. Next time let us give simple solution for a simple query and be done with it. The melodrama is over so we are all good now. If the OP is still lurking on the forums- g31-s2l for e5200 is a good choice for you.

does g43 or p45 chipset based mobo support e5200 ?

most of the g43/p45 chipset based mobo costing 5k +

Does g43/p45 chipset support ddr3 along with ddr2 ?

Come on, you can't really say you don't enjoy melodrama :P

Hi,
How about you start a new thread with an appropriate title so that a lot more people can contribute. This thread has more than served it's purpose.
Cheers!
