Got a pair of turtles..what do I feed them ?

When I was a kid I dropped a tortoise into our well and it starved to death after a couple of weeks.

btw you can feed it boiled rice, but make sure you consult a vet as well, or they may pass away soon :( without proper care. (also turtle eggs are awesome too, very tasty)

Wtf, I didnt know you can eat turtles. Where do you get it in Mumbai

Anyone else knows where you eat turtles in Pune??
 
i had a turtle a few years back and once i fed him an earthworm, he seemed to enjoy it.

apart from that as others suggested the pet store stocks their food. and their food smells bad.

no one sells them openly, I got these ones illegally, from a friend of mine :bleh:
i'm actually confused if I ate a turtle or tortise:ashamed: but it was tasty:hap2:

turtles are tortoise when they are on land.....according to wikipedia
 
Some pics clicked in a hurry, I find it to errie to hold them. They aren't those sobre ones who stay inside their shell, they are active and don't budge even if I pat them on the head.

Currently feeding them coriander leaves as suggested by the shopkeeper.

yup those are res, if you keep them in that bowl then they have a life expectancy of around 2-3 months at the most

What do you suggest ? Where should I keep them ? They are kept in water for about 5-6 hrs per day

hey , do not keep them in that bowl, they should be able to go in water and then even rest in dry places when they require, they will not live long in that bowl :(
 
^^is it? they do look a lot similar to res though :S the red colored marks on their heads along with the striations on their neck
@op in that case they are illegal as well :P
