51-70k GPU for 4K gaming below 75K

My current rig is as follows and now I am in an need of a suitable graphics card for the build.

CPU - Intel i7 12700F
MB - MSI Pro B660M-A Non Wifi
RAM - 16GBx2 G Skill Ripjaws 3200 Mhz
Cabinet - Corsair 4000D Airflow
SSD - Samsung 980 1TB x 2
PSU - XPG Core Reactor 850
CPU Cooler - Deepcool AK620
Wifi - Asus Wifi Module
Monitor/LED - 4K Samsung 65 inch Frame 2021 (120fps capable I guess)
Graphics Card - 1060 3GB

Due to the sudden jump in resolution to 4K the 1060 feels grossly underpowered and thus the need for a suitable graphics card.
Budget - 75K Approximately but lower the better.

Was currently looking at 4070 (Not Ti) for around 58k.
Need your valuable suggestions.

For 4K, the 12GB VRAM could be a serious bottleneck in the future, if it isnt already. For around 75k, you could look at a 6950XT instead. If ray tracing isnt a big requirement, the 16GB VRAM should age better.
If you have to go with Nvidia, you can look at used 3090 cards for around 60k. Not sure if this is good value though. You will also consider how much power the 3090 uses. The 24GB VRAM should be more than enough.

4080 is beyond budget.

Not considering used GPU’s currently.

From what I could gather I have either the 4070 at 60k or 3080 10G at 60k or Asrock 6800XT at 55k Or Asrock 6950xt at 67k. Flipkart offers being discussed in other threads were not available for shipping somehow.

Then the AMD cards seem to be the obvious winners. Also dont get anything from Flipkart without Open box delivery (the delivery person opens the package and reveals the GPU before accepting the OTP).
 
So after going through the pricing the best I could find were the following options:

Asrock or Sapphire 6800XT 54k
Zotac 3080 10GB Amp/Trinity 52k
inno3d 4070 54k
Asrock 6950XT 67K
Gigabyte 4070Ti 74K

From what I could gather 6800 /3080 10Gb looks like the best value amongst all these options but somehow I’m unable to move forward with the purchase.

Any guidance would be really helpful. Is waiting gonna help in any way?

Don't want to sound too alarmist but if you go for anything less than 16GB , you would end up regretting it and sooner rather than later.

You can remove 3080 10GB in favour of 4070 IMO, reason - VRAM.

At those prices, its a tough call. You can research into RMA of AsRock & Sapphire in India & maybe go for 6800XT?

My only issue with 4070 Ti is the 12GB VRAM, at 4K gaming, it might meet the fate of low VRAM in a few years. With enough VRAM, even if you play at 4K med in future, you can at least maximise the textures.

But from all the benchmarks I have gone through 3080 10GB is still ahead of 6800XT and 4070 considering the price to be exactly the same. Am I missing something ?

3080 10GB still ahead of 6800XT. 4070 is missing from the above list.

4070 Ti cannot be considered since there is atleast a 25-30% price increase above the 4070/3080/6800XT

Ohhkay. As per my understanding HU guys usually select the Ultra Preset setting for doing benchmarks which makes it an even playing field for all GPUs in the test. Usually if they do have variations they tend to inform. But still I get your point since I have faced similar issues with my 1060 3gb.

Somehow 3080 as per the pricing looks very appealing to me but VRAM point cannot be ignored for sure

You would be avoiding a cause for regret by not going with 3080 or 3080 Super. Go for at least 16GB of VRAM which ever brand you choose. Textures are probably the most important and impactful graphical setting that you can select. They cost very little in terms of raw GPU horsepower but have a huge impact on graphical fidelity. Even my A770 16GB would perform better than a 3080 with best texture setting selected in most modern games because even though 3080 has more raw raster and RT power, it's VRAM would be filled up and the game would become a stuttery mess.

Thank you so much Abhishek for the detailed information. This really helps and has given me a lot more clarity. I think I should stick to 6800xt given the price to perf ratio as well as 16gb of VRAM . RT at this level is irrelevant esp at 4k

Also, look into initial reviews of The Last of Us for PC. In general, 3080 10GB will meet the same fate in future as 3070 8GB did in a few demanding new games this year. I have a 3070 & its VRAM is holding me from maxing out textures at 1440p in games like FH5, TLOU & Hogwarts.

I did like RT in Spiderman, but it was too taxing, couldn't even maintain 60+fps. The 1% lows were mainly going below 50fps, which was annoying.

Sorry to increase the confusion. DLSS3 brings a major increase to FPS. We are talking 70% increase to DLSS2. Even I am was eyeing a 6800XT but seems like nVidia is still the better choice.

In short, DLSS 3 will be of benefit to you provided you meet a few criteria:
  1. Before enabling frame generation, you need to already be rendering the game at a decent frame rate, in the 100-120 FPS range.
  2. You'll need to have a high refresh rate display, ideally 240 Hz or higher.
  3. You'll need to be playing a game that is slower paced and not latency sensitive, like a single-player title
Also, You can't guarantee good DLSS3 support at launch for all games while higher VRAM is guaranteed to work. The best option would be to go for something like 4080 or 4090 but that is out of OP's budget.

If choice is between DLSS3 and decent bit more VRAM, then that's an easy one - more VRAM. From what i have read, Frame gen gives you fake frames with some artifacts and increase in input lag and in return you get potentially smoother display. You already need to be playing with good FPS to get the benefit ( else you will notice the artifacts and the added lag).
DLSS3 wont do shit once VRAM limit is hit. I think it increases VRAM usage. Same with RT.
Currently 12gb cards do ok, but that will change in future. For expensive cards, makes no sense to me to go with 10-12 gb cards, and i say this while owning 3080 10gb. When i bought i did not have this info and did not know how this works. My reasoning was that if 4k is fine, then 2k should be fine in future, but that's not the case.

So i think its better to take 6800xt-6950xt or wait for new AMD cards in that price range( with better power efficiency ) vs 4070/4070ti. Only 4090 is 'good' for the price in this gen. Price is crazy but flagships usually are at stupid prices. 4080 has bad price and everything below is compromised on VRAM. So far, both AMD and Nvidia have brought not much or no price/perf improvement vs last gen. PS5 makes more sense for those who dont mind using consoles.
