I am looking to get a 3090 zotac trinity diagnosed and possibly repaired on behalf of a friend. The gpu performs fine under 70% load but anything more and the screen blacks out (the temps also get high) and the vga light turns red on the mobo.. What are my options in this case? The gpu is out of warranty. Is the gpu sellable in this condition? Or repairable? Need guidance!

Generally no. Run it till it lasts. After that, it will be a show piece.

I have not heard or seen of any GPU repair being successful in the last few years.

Have your friend tried undervolting it?

Nah, your friend may as well sell it off for cheap and get something else (if repasting and undervolting don't help). Repairs like this don't work out in the long run. Most repair shops will just bake the card, return it, and it'll crap out again.

Has he tried running it with an underclock? I can see he tried undervolting but both are different things and maybe it will help? What are the temps? 3090 runs hot by default btw but if we can get a look at HWiNFO64 stats just before a crash that would be useful. Also has your friend tried uninstalling the drivers using DDU and reinstalling them fresh? Maybe even try an other graphics driver just to change things.

If it is, then that looks incredibly hard to be solved xD
Hard but doable. If it really just needs reballing then repairing it is worth it. It's a 3090 after all.
