I am using a HD 6770 ,my lcd resolution is 1366 x 768 . a gts 450 or 6770 will give you superb performance .make sure you have a nice 450w PSU .

Hello,

I would like to play full HD videos through HDMI on graphics card to TV & AVR from my computer (HTPC). I would also like passthrough for DTS-HDMA, Dolby TrueHD, and the conventional DTS, AC3, LPCM 7.1 as well.

Board : Intel D945 GCR / PCI(E) = yes
Processor : Pentium 4, 2.66GHz
RAM: 2GB DDR2
SMPS : 350W (local), ready to spend on another
HDD : 80GB, ready to spend on another
OS : Windows XP, would like to keep it same.

Please suggest a suitable graphics card and player. I don't usually go gaming, but something capable should always be better.

Thanks in advance.

Haven't you guys read ops requirements, his budget is 7k for gpu+psu, not just gpu.:S

IMO Get HD 6770 instead of GTS450.

AnandTech - Bench - GPU11

And 6770 is 10% better than 5770.

So 6770 is VFM and you can enjoy gaming at High detail in some games and MED detail in max @ 720p res which is more than enough for your monitor.

^^ You can get the ASUS ENGTX 560 TI DCII [basically a non TOP -- Top Over-clocked Performance card] if you want to dabble in over-clocking by yourself, I'm sure you'll be able to squeeze out a better deal and if the GTX 560 Ti is the only card you want.

Else, another option for the GTX 560 Ti option is the MSi GTX 560Ti Twin Frozr II ~ 13500/- [here in Bangalore, non inclusive taxes].

If you have no real bias to AMD OR nVidia you can also go for the Sapphire HD 6950 1GB ~ 14500/- [a straight up increment of ~1000/- quid in the price with a good performance bump and a lower power draw and lesser heat], http://www.anandtech...duct/331?vs=330.

If you are patient and willing to wait till ~ March / April the AMD HD 7*** series cards [28 nm fabrication + GCN architecture on the high end models http://www.anandtech...-hd-7970-review] will land [with obnoxious price tags for the opening months but will scale down with time] also if you are an nVidia loyalist it'll be clear by then, whenever nVidia plans to release its own 6** series [28 nm fabrication + Fermi architecture].

Also which titles do you plan to run at waht resolution, can you give us more details about what you expect the GPU to do [apart from gaming / productivity applications, CUDA http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/CUDA / GCN http://www.anandtech.com/show/4455/amds-graphics-core-next-preview-amd-architects-for-compute based workloads et al]. If you have any brand bias.

Hope this helps, Sire. Cheers!!

I would say One of the Best .... Do check MSI gtx560ti hawk

Hawk model is currently not available.

Thanks to all of you, I am getting this ASUS card @ 14500 after 4 days market visit.

Thanks again.

I am surprised!!!!

After make an order of ASUS DC2top, now delar says it's out of stock.

He want to gave me : ZOTAC GeForce® GTX 560 Ti AMP! Edition

How was the card against DC II/TOP & MSI 560ti Hawk??

Please help me ASAP.

Thanks in advance..

ZOTAC GeForce® GTX 560 Ti AMP! Edition has a Very high power consumption rate compared to Msi twin frozr or Asus and also-

High temperatures

No low clock profile for idle desktop 2D,it'd be better if you go for Msi or asus.

Hello there Im looking for a graphics card for my build.
What is your budget?

-7.5-8k

Current rig Specs(Will soon get)

-Intel i3-2100

-Intel DH67BL

-g.skill Ripjaws 1x4gb @ 1600 mhz

-Dell IN2030M

Which PSU/SMPS will you be using? Rating + Brand

-(Not yet decided and budget for PSU is 2100 RS) GPU and PSU budget is inversly proportional.

Primary use? (Casual gaming, Hardcore gaming, Just for display, Movies/HTPC)

-Hardcore Gaming

What resolution do you game on?

-1366x768,1280x720 or 1600x900. Depends on performance.

Not interested in crossfire or sli. But I might change my mind in the future
<
.

Open to nVidia and ATI.

Sire wait for the AMD R7000 series cards to release, this will force the prices of current cards further down as well as get you better performing cards in your budget, if you want an immediate get either the AMD HD 6850 ~ 9800/- OR nVidia GTX 560 [non-Ti] ~ 10500/- minimum for optimal performance for the future.

Also if you plan to have a graphics card on your RIG, get either of these SMPS minimum -->

Corsair CX V2 430W ~ 2200/-,

Seasonic S12II 430W ~ 2600/-,

preferred will be that you get the Seasonic S12II 520W ~ 3200/- and a GTX 560 OR equivalent card for future proofing and decent gaming specs.

Hope this helps, Cheers!!

Wait for a month for AMD HD77XX series to release which will be better than 67xx series,if you can't wait then get Sapphire/MSI HD6790-8.2K which is the best in 8k budget, this will perform great at 1600X900 reso-http://www.guru3d.co...-6790-review/13

if you're gonna change to full hd soon then i would suggest you to get HD6850-9.5k and get the psu which #ALPHA17 has quoted.

Ok ill wait for the 7 series to release. And wouldn't getting the 58XX be better instead of getting a 67XX or a 6850? Wont it be way cheaper?

And what are the prices of the hd5850 and hd5870?

Ok ill wait for the 7 series to release. And wouldn't getting the 58XX be better instead of getting a 67XX or a 6850? Wont it be way cheaper?

Generally speaking yes it'll be lighter on your pocket, but you'll loose a lot of advances that AMD has brought into its product after the HD 5*** series, for e.g. --

1) HDMI will be v1.3, current standard is v1.4a [if I'm not wrong],

2) improved tessellation vis-a-vis AMD 5*** series, the AMD HD 6*** series was a remedial step to improve this performance hurdle in AMD cards against their nVidia counter-parts, for more on tessellation --> http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tessellation. The R7000 series cards has stepped up to such a level that AMD HD 7970 outpaced nVidia GTX 580 in tessellation performance by ~ 25% --> http://www.anandtech.com/bench/Product/508?vs=517.

3) the power draw of AMD cards has been getting tighter and tighter and the thermal envelope is also being pushed down with every successive release. So more power for less hogging power.

Hope this explains things and puts it in the right perspective. Cheers!!

Ok so finally what card do you suggest under 8k and what should be the psu? And wont the 5770 work better than a 6670 even though 6670 is of a higher class??
