Hi !

I Just Bought A HP 6300 MT PC
It Contains
CPU- i3-2120

Chipset- Intel® Q75 Express

RAM-4GBx1 1600 MHz DDR3 {I dont know the brand}

The PSU Supplied With it Is just 320Watts..SO I will need A PSU Too..
I Want To play Latest Games Like Far Cry 3 ,Max Payne 3 @ 1920x1080 Resolution Maximum settings

Kindly Suggest me A Decent PSU and GPU

Maximum Budget For PSU+GPU= 23K

I am thinking of Sapphire HD 7870 OC edition from flipkart for Rs.18690

I am Open To Both Nvidia And AMD

TIA!

7870 is a great buy go for it. the other counter part is 660 2GB OC but as u have enough budget, you should be looking for 7870 and a decent corsair PSU

I think that CPU could be a bottleneck if you pair it with a high-end GPU. I'd let some one else comment on that aspect but otherwise that GPU looks like the best bet now.

@Shaleen I suggest that you go for the following --

Seasonic S12II 520W ~4400/- OR Corsair TX v2650W ~5800/-
GIGABYTE GTX660 2GB ~16000/- OR AMD HD7870 2GB ~18700/-

I would suggest the nVidia offering if you want the best performance at full-HD resolution as long as you are not bothered with the COMPUTE performance of the card in question. Here is a benchmark run between the two --
AnandTech - Bench - GPU12

Your processor shall not bottle-neck the graphic card for the most part.

Hope this helps, Cheerio!

Wishing all on this thread a Happy, Healthy and Prosperous New Year 2013.

@OP,just curious, does your mobo have a pcie slot?a HP i got for my office recently did not,so that may cause an issue.also, check whether the case has enough room for installing a big gpu,as OEM cabinets usually are tightly packed and have little room for adding such parts-usually a hdd bay is in the way of long gpu's.

Thanks For All Your Suggestions!! :) This Was My First Thread On TE in Last 2 Years

And I Am Getting Sapphire HD 7870 2GB @ 16.5k locally

As For GTX 660 I am Worried About its 192 Bit Bus... I read Somewhere that It bottlenecks or something like that @ Higher Resolutions Then 1080p {As i will be buying a new processor and higher resolution Monitor After 8-9 months

I Am Worried about that too:unsure:.. But I Just Bought This PC So would like to stick to it for sometime...May be @ the next Intel Launch I will buy An i5 when the price drops..:)

@surajspai : I Opened my cabinet to make sure i have enough space {I cut a paper according to card dimension and placed it adjacent to card slot}and PCI 3.0 1x16 card slot, and it is present. But i Noticed a peculiarity,This is the first time i have seen a cabinet opening from right side, everything is just Opposite. I guess I will Have to Put My Graphic card Upside down with heat sink facing upwards

It has a PCIe slot though I realized the cabinet-space conundrum when you posted the same. =|

The comparison between two cards in that anandtech link has been tested with older catalyst and forceware drivers prolly at the time of launch, anandtech doesn't update those benchs with the latest drivers. So, it would show wrong bench results to someone who is looking to buy graphics card at present. If you compare two cards with latest drivers, AMD HD7870 easily walks over GTX 660 in almost every game out there.

Nope, don't think so since Anandtech regularly updates its database and has even got the HD7970 / 7950 boosted versions in its roster of comparable cards.

Also, they put up notes in-case of exception cases.

Are you sure, then i wonder why HD7870 is trailing behind GTX 660 in BF3, Starcraft II when it actually beats GTX 660 in both games with latest catalyst drivers (12.11 beta). Doesn't HD7870 performance falls in between GTX 660 and HD7950/GTX660Ti? i think Anandtech adds new graphic cards which they test at the time of launch but do not update the benchs of already tested cards.

12.11 BETA is well BETA, only official drivers are updated.

They do their best and generally keep the numbers appraised of the latest developments.

I agree that performance of the HD7870 falls between the GTX660 and GTX660Ti (not HD7950) but in BattleField 3 and StarCraft II (both nVidia bastions) they are badly battered by the nVidia offerings irrespective of the overall settings and the fact that AMD card's performance gets stretched the moment Anti-Aliasing / SSAO is cranked up whilst nVidia cards fare better but once you keep pushing the resolution-gate beyond full HD + full resolution texture packs the entire playing field is level.

@ALPHA17
I am Seriously Considering Nvidia GTX 660 But Its 192 bit bus is kind of freaking me out, i have heard about its bottlenecking the GPU Please Shed some light on it.
Moreover Its not available locally in my city right now. I will have to Order it online i guess
And If BETA version of catalyst Is so good, isnt there any chance of coming its official driver anytime soon?

^^ It should not freak you out.

Although the shortened bandwidth does lead to performance loss, it is not at full HD resolution, it is only if you dial up all the way to 2560 x1440 and that is not these mid-range cards cup of tea.

At 1080p (full-HD) the GTX660 --> HD7870 --> GTX660Ti are all huddled together, depending on title and settings the scores / frame-rates keep jumping around, also note that performance is affected by all the collective components of the test RIG. You may OR may-not achieve the same results.

Suffice to say all the cards are equally potent in that price range and have their PRO's and CON's. Some will say the PHYsX component of nVidia cards is enough to give them the edge, still others will say AMD's COMPUTE scores are more important.

BETA's are limited release situations, they are unpredictable and have been known to be buggy as well as being harbingers of AWESOMESAUCE performance. Either ways until the official drivers are not out I will reserve judgement. Dunno, Catalyst drivers have not been updated (officially) for close to 2 months now.

You can get a GTX660 OR HD7870 depending on personal preference, I will say they are equally good. But if you are really worried the 192-bit BUS will be a future stumbling block go for the HD7870 2GB and rest easy.

Hope this helps, Cheerio!

@ALPHA17 : Thank You Very Much For Your Suggestions, Repped you :)

Can You Suggest me Any PSU from Cooler Master?

And a teenytiny Noob question, My Cabinet Opens from right side..I couldnt find any youtube video for installing the card that opens cabinet from right side, is that going to be a problem or i can just flip the card with heatsink facing the top and put it inside..

Can you attach a picture of your cabinet innards and post it here before purchasing the card. Also using a simple inch-tape can you measure the length clearance you have for the card. Anything below 10" means it will be a tight fit OR no-go situation.

No Cooler Master SMPS save the Cooler Master Silent Pro M series will suffice for your needs, either stick to the Corsair TX v2650W ~5800/- OR Cooler Master Silent Pro M600W ~6200/-.

Hope this helps, Cheers!

I think that its the same as left hand sided, just with a complete inversion of the mobo. However, without the pics, cant say anything for sure.

Cabinet opens from right side. In this case there are two possibilities:
-Your motherboard is of BTX form factor
-Your cabinet is designed to install motherboard in upside down position.
You need not worry about form factor, as in either case you will have to install graphics card in 'heatsink facing top' position. It doesn't looks like it will hamper your cooling performance, as BTX form factor was created with thermal performance in mind. IIRC Cooler Master Stacker(CM's flagship some year back) used to come with option to install motherboard in upside down orientation. NZXT has some cabinet(forgot name) which mounts graphic card in vertical position.

Quote from wiki concerning BTX form factor:
. Another distinct feature of BTX is the vertical mounting of the motherboard on the left-hand side. This results in the graphics card heatsink or fan facing upwards, rather than in the direction of the adjacent expansion card.
