Well, yogi, thats not exactly what I suggested. I said given my requirements it sounds like I must be a n00b but I'm not atleast when it comes to software. Its just that I've only had cash enough for budget systems till now (You know the 25 grand ones with a celeron, d845 mobo, local speakers .... :no: ugh .. and the like) so havent really had the option to OC etc.
@ Quad & Zhopudey ... thanks for the tips guys. :hap2:
@ Zhopudey
Anyways, if the OP is unsure about overclocking, and since I have zero exp in this, maybe you could elaborate on the benifits of overclocking with regards to the following applications:-
1) Music
2) Movies
3) MS-Office
4) Internet Surfing, chatting, p2p
5) AOE
Well Zhopudey, these are just examples of the apps I'll be using and not all. Moreover, most of these will be running simulatneously. And I am not into high -end gaming mostly coz I just dont have the option with my current Celeron and 845 onboard graphics. Once at college I'll probably do a lot of LAN gaming and who knows what kinda games I start palying. Moreover
AOE3 is debuting later this year and they say its one of the most taxing games ever.
@ Quad, its true I havent really gone down the OC lane as yet, but if it's not too tough and is entirely software based, guess I'll give it a try. Wud be great to get the performance of a 3400+ from a 3000+ (and if I committed some major faux-pas there forgive me, I have very li'l idea regarding OC)
To all the OC Lord Vaders ... Will I need some special hardware like fans etc. for even minor OCing or will the Antec SLK 1650B with its 350W PSU do. Also, are software tweaks enough or do I have to tweak hardware too.
@Aces
Hmm As far as quality goes MSI is a pretty good. OCING it sucks, but if you can afford then stick with Asus A8n e. Also doing MBA in the preimier institutes will not give you anytime to do anything !!!
My cousin's in IIM B and he has to do projects and stuff till 3 in the morning every single day !!!
Well, yeah, life in premier B-Schools is majorly taxing I hear but people do find a lot of time for their interests by cutting down on sleep etc. Esp. tech enthusiasts like ppl here will always find time for their passions no matter where they are or how hectic their schedule is. Its basically like work hard and play harder (as long as u have a decent PC I'd add ;-)
@SM
I know it makes more sense to go with cheaper speakers and add a soundcard, but like I said I will be gettin a soundcard later and since I'll need somethin really, really good at loud volumes (without cuttin down on clarity) to rip the whole damn hostel :clap:
