Dont bother. I made the mistake of asking for that in Pune. After escalating it to Samsung, they redirected me to a diff SC.
The service guys there likely installed it with a hard applicator the way they are used to on glass panel phones and ruined my otherwise perfectly functional display.
When I got the phone 45 mins later, it had multiple dead pixels and lines!!

I made a fuss and was able to get a full replacement - but it was a terrible PITA as you can imagine.
The screen protector on new phone has started to come out now (usually lasts about just under a year)
This time I will just oreder one off amazon and apply it myself

You should instead thank oneplus for acknowledging the defect and offer prompt replacements. Look at other brands which are nothing short of tantrums and drama where they will shoo you way blaming you on the name of physical damage etc. and no warranty honoring whatsoever.
I would suggest anyone in android to opt for oneplus at least for green line peace of mind!

Hard to tell. My guess, it's caused by the overheating due to the update process.
I installed the update, used it for 2-3 minutes, no green line yet, I opened a bunch of apps and a game (CoC) to test thermal throttling and I could see a very faint green line starting to appear.
I immediately locked my phone and put some water droplets on the display to cool it. Unlocked the phone and the line was gone.
Used it for some more time, the faint line started coming again, did the same cooling technique and it went away. The third time curiosity got the best of me and after playing CoC for a while I could see the faint line slowly getting darker and suddenly there was a bright green vertical line.
Restarted and could it see on the bootloader too.

If they had a better quality control this wouldn't have happened to majority of oneplus phones. Same display panel is used by several brands and yet OnePlus is affected far more than all other brands combined. And for that reason I'm out

4th purple line happened in my s20 ultra.
While other criterias for complimentary repair were met, Samsung refused to repair citing >3 yrs purchase. Apparently company reserves the right to make policy on the go.
 
Will OnePlus find out if I replaced my back panel myself?
They've agreed to replace my display for free, no hidden charges, but the glass back of my phone is broken so I'd have to get that replaced first (3.8k).

There's first copy back panels for less than 1k and I could replace it myself. But I'm worried if I did that they'd disqualify my display replacement.
 
Delivery guy who brought dinner had a one plus 9 with prominent green line.

A friend of mine with one plus six has no problem.

His daughter with one plus seven has a green line.

Why can't you do it after they replace your screen?

How did it break?

Did the case not protect enough or you weren't using one.

Maybe you weren't even aware the back was glass. This is a headache with all flagships since recently. Looks great but fragile.

Funny story. I had this Ringke clear case that had saved my phone through hundreds of falls. One day, my niece gave me this tiny, adorable heart sticker. You know, the kind teachers slap on your notebook when you’ve done a good job? I couldn’t say no, so I stuck it on the back of my phone, inisde the case. It was like ½ cm.

I thought, what harm could one little sticker do? Famous last words. The next time my phone fell, the entire shock was absorbed by the case and redirected into that little heart in the middle… causing a heart break, literally.

Thought I’d take this story to the grave, but here we are. Thansk for asking lol

One of my preferred brands. Though I avoid the clear case unless it has dark tpu on the edges. Its in the queue for rotation. I have the onyx on and its instantly more reassuring grip wise than anything spigen has.

Ringke encourages you to put different designs on the back for variety. You could for instance pick up skins and slide them there without sticking anything and easily swap later with another. Clear back.

The key point is skin. Not some small sticker. So any shock would be dissipated over a wider area.

I'm still amazed a little sticker was enough to do this. The job of the case is to dissipate the shock as well but it seems here whatever fraction of force where the sticker was located wasn't dissipated enough or rather the sticker served to concentrate the force in a small area. Some neat physics going on there.

So mind boggling o_O

Agreed. The skin wasn’t really the point for me; I kept the sticker there because it made my 4 year old niece happy. Every time she saw my phone, she’d light up, knowing I valued her little gift. I wouldn't trade that for a dozen broken phones

The sticker seems to have created a stress riser rather than allowing it to distribute the shock over the broader surface of the case. Definitely a surprising example of how even a minor alteration can change the dynamics of shock absorption, neat physics indeed.

Exactly the case I have. In fact I have two of them. But by photo I wanted you to show just the back (without case), a little zoomed in where the damage is apparent on the back glass. I can imagine what it looks like but seeing would be so much better.

This is the surpising part. That case has good corner protection, side protection and the back is fairly raised and got different points to diffuse any shock. I can't fault this case on desogn. Definitely fit for purpose. You CANNOT go wrong with this case.

If you document this well and mail to Ringke I'm sure they would be interested.

The fix is straight forward. Leave a 0.5mm or less gap between case back and phone back. Ringke's machining I think can handle such a tolerance.

green line issue is apparent on oled displays because of the complexity of it. sometimes even the connector gets rusty or if the phone fell on certain angle it appears. I had s20 which never faced this issue but on the other side a minor drop on oneplus 8 and it shown green line after 10-15 days, not on the day of drop.
