I installed GTA IV yesterday (sorry for coming late to the party :P) but i just can't get it to SAVE.

I've GfWL thingy in Windows and it gave me a link for fix for update error - which i downloaded. Even then when i open the game (via commandline - which btw is terrific - has increased performance like anything), i get a GfWL signing in EACH TIME (which is pathetic). After i sign in, it tells me that there is an update for this game - if i choose no, it wont sign me in (LAME) - i choose the update (i'm still in the game) - it downloads and then doesn't do anything - Any idea how this is fixed? How long do i need to wait for it to get downloaded.

Because without this, i can't seem to save the game :( Its a RIDICULOUS way to save in a game.

Apart from that - whatever little i could play - i liked the game a lot

Here is my benchmark

You need to have a windows live id, which i think should be linked to your account. It's a long procedure. And try applying the patch from the direct link provided in the other thread.

You NEED to sign in to Live at least once and RSGC before you can save the game. After that , you can start the game in Offline mode and it will run fine.

^^ mate, mind posting the link? There are so many GTA threads - its difficult to find it.

I do have a Live Id and linked to my R* account.

EDIT: got the 32mb patch link - lets see if it solves the problem.

EDIT: the patch solved the saving problem for me :) Thx

anyone with new tweaks ??

atleast for me all the tweaks are failin after installin patch 1 :(

regards

what problem you are facing ? is the game starts to lag after 30 mins of play?

I installed this game today but can't even get the Rockstar Games Social Club to launch.I get the error message: "The application has encountered a fatal error and must close".

I found this link which seems to suggest that this is a dot net framework problem but even after following the steps it suggests I can't get the damn thing to work $@#$@#!
Possible solution to RGSC not starting - Steam Users' Forums

Anybody here got any clue about this?

^^ If u have updated to the newest patch it doesnt occur, atleast to me it doesnt :)

Updating with the patch didn't solve the problem. However, l found a workaround after browsing the net. RGSCLauncher.exe gives the error however RGSC.exe within the 1_1_3_0 subfolder works fine! Finally, I'm able to play the game. My initial impressions are that it really stresses my 8800GT because I can hear the fan screaming after playing for some time.
