The 1GB version looks promising and it beats the HD5830 in most games :D It even bests the GTX465 3/4 games and HD5850 in a couple of games:ohyeah: Power consumption too is similar to HD5830/HD5850 and the temps are lower than the HD58xx:O Finally a good DX11 card from NVIDIA(factoring in power to performance and power conumption and temps).

This should be priced at ~12-13k in Indian market and fills the gap between the HD5770 ~ 9.5k and HD5850~15.5k.(The HD5830 never took off in India). Price cuts plz....... Make the HD5830/HD5850 more competetive :P

THis is amazing, It has performed better than expected , in fact it can compete with 5830 :o

ATI will definitely have to come up with price drops soon :ohyeah:

good performance there ... but i dont think it will be priced below 14k in india .. 5850 is still 10-15% faster than highest oced 460 so it should be priced at max 13k .. this will definitely eat sales of 5770 / 5830 unless they drop price .. but i dont think price of 5850 will drop .

the cards run very cool :O 768 mb versions running around 55C and 1gb around 74c

Yup pricing remains a key in Indian market.
There is a $60-70 price difference between the HD5850 and the GTX460 1GB in US market.
Here the HD5850 sells for 15.5k-16k. So this card(GTX460 1GB) should be priced at 12.5-13k to make sense. If priced at 14k then the HD5850 is a clear winner in the Indian market.

I want to ask one question..

The 5850 has only EXTREME power consumption when furmark and 3d mark both are running is around 150w... I checked many reviews..

Then is it possible to run 5850 with only one pci power connector???( 75 +75 ) right?

and is it possible that Ati can release a board with only one 6 pin power connector like the 4850.. (which also has similar power consumption ~ 150w ) wont it reduce prices quite a bit more because of the less complex board design...

because such a board makes lot of value sense.. we are having one more connector for apparently no reason unless a: you overclock it to the smithereens or b: you run insane stress applications

both of which are not usual user scenarios...

4850 was such a value card precisely because of the 6 pin board right??

why are we having an extra connector for a gpu that consumes same power as a 4850.. while the latter runs fine without the extra one..???

we're finally starting to see the new architecture and process mature. the 460 looks like great value for money, and a short review that just went up on hardocp says that 2 460s in sli comfortably beat a 480 in performance. 25k for 2 cards to beat out 480 performance is absolutely awesome. i was going to skip this first generation but i might have to look into this now depending on what the price is. imagine how good nvidia cards will perform when the first real refresh comes out or the next generation appears.

The HD5830 never made an impact, i still see the same old 5830 box at prime unsold whenever i go there. it is crippled on specs (not just clocks) compared to 5850, i hope more comparative reviews of 5850 and GTX460 both OCed come up soon.

HD5850 would still be a winner due to power consumption if both are on par with each other when OCed. hope the pricing in india does not deviate astronomically from the $200 mark.

wow nice launch from NVIDIA. It sure is threat for ATI cards in that price range.

Now, we will see either an price drop from ATI or NVIDIA's dominance in mid-range :P (too obvious)

Damn that card in SLI is the SHIT , check out AT's numbers its close to 5870 X 2 in Xfire !!!

Maybe they were right this is like a new 8800gt ?

Finally a promising card from the green stable. Time for price cuts.

GF104 has major architectural changes. They have re-organized the CUDA cores and cut down heavily on HPC (High Performance Computing) parts of GF100 (features geared towards Tesla cards) to bring the transistor count to less than 2 Billion transistors (close to 5850). In the process the new chip is less bulky and geared more towards gaming, some thing nvidia should have done the first time around. At the same time the new chips consume a lot less power and run cooler. The temperature and noise levels are very impressive. Coolest and quietest in this generation of cards.

AT article explains this in-depth and is a nice read.

Makes a lot of sense if priced at 12k mark.

Usually NVIDIA cards are priced higher in India. Hope they price it right this time.

Indian retailers are some greedy mongers. I bet they will place this card between 13-15K for those early adopters but don't expect them to be competitive. The card sells for $200 & $230 for 768MB & 1GB which makes it less than 10K.

when the heck is the MSI GTX460 768MB Cyclone edition coming to india. :@

MSI Global
most probably after it has been proven a success globally :P

otherwise there would be Pre-orders via TE dealers if there is any considerable advantage on price/performance front.

well this card is indeed a very nice addition to the green stable ... but dont expect much price cuts for the 5850 because of this ... the 5850 is a oc monster with core then can be pushed well past 1k on stock cooling ... i got mine running stable at 950 core 1251memory at 1.14 volts which gives it a boost past a stock 5870 in performance. now with custom cooling solution i have heard that this card can pushed as much as 1.4 volts so anything in the reguion 1050 1300 is possible without much problem.

the 460 as its prices is not going to make a huge change in india ... unless it comes down to 12k or something less the 5850 price change here is not going to be a reality.
