And the real reviews are out:

Bottom line: NVIDIA's GeForce GTX 480 could have easily been better, perhaps should have been considering the time of arrival, but we feel that, underscored and handicapped by a paradigm shift in GPU thinking, it retains enough features and visceral ooh la la to be worthy of a £400 price-tag, if not £450.

==============================

after looking at the review, felt that though GTX480 is astronomically faster than HD5870, it's performance got a hit and fell down to HD5870 framerates in DX11 mode of games.

Bad COmpany 2 : 4-9% better performance over HD5870

crysis warhead: -.2 to 14% faster

dirt 2 :

so, is there going to be a price cut on ATI HD5xxx cards, hell yes!

GTX480 is to be priced at $450 and current price of HD5870 is $440.
GTX470 is to be priced at $300-320 and current price of HD5850 is around $330.

am pretty sure that ATI will put HD5870 at $375 approx and HD5850 at $275-$300

well what ever any1 says but, i have 480gtx in sli and they r solid performers... no regrets i say this to every1...kindly decide ur budget first .. then the availability... and then select out of options.....

GTX485 will appear in Fall

NVIDIA GeForce GTX485 will improve its extra value and power consumption at this point. News comes from NVIDIA chief scientist Bill Dally, exposing that it will launch one graphics named GTX485 in the future.

As expected, the GTX 485 that basing on GF100 Fermi GPU will have 512 CUDA / 64 TMUs/48 ROPs; Core/Shader gets set to720/1440MHz, higher than GTX480; The rest specs remain the same.

With the development of TSMC 40nm, sooner or later, GTX485 which owns the whole GF100 GPU display card will ‘born’. It will appear in fall, and its price will be higer $20 than GTX480.

Its a complete disappoint that a gtx470 cant even get past hd5850 properly.

The way nvidia is releasing its products it seems they have lost their confidence or couldnt accept that they were beaten by ati.Too early implementation of ddr5 shows this. Moreover gtx480 takes a lot of power and generates lot of heat another example they released it in haste to compete with ati but unfortunately the tables were turned.

i think they should stop making the nonsenses like gt 220..etc etc.I even think they will now be trying to make something like gtx 450.etc etc
Anyways i think they should take their time make something more acceptable.

In mid-July we will be seeing a "460" or "GF104" GPU from NVIDIA. It should MSRP around $230 and have very good overclocking potential. The 450 and 455, "GF106" series GPU will hitting the ground in mid-August and will be retailing at $129 - $179 price points, these GPUs will be replacing the 250 series. The 240 will be replaced in August or September by a "GF108."

superclocking is not the proper solution.a single fermi consumes more than 250 watt.this should be taken care first.i wonder what will a gtx 490 consume 400-500 watt.
