Hey guys,

Bought the TRad2 & installed it with a 120mm fan on my MSI OC 8800GT. Anyone with this cooler please post their min/max temps on this as I am in the 50-65 range. Just wanted to ensure if I installed it correctly. Are these temps good?

Here's the real problem
I am on a CM extreme power 600w. Even after using TRad2 while playing my PC hangs with pixelation after 10 mins sometimes later. Especially with COD-MW & MW2. Ran Crysis with no problem though only played for 15-20mins. After I restart, the GPUz log file reports all 3 temp sensors normal. Only GPU temp reaches 65c. Other 2 temps are below 50c.

Possible reasons-
1. RAM & PWM ICs overheating (I have used the heatsinks that came with TRad2).
2. The CM PSU :@ (been ~2yrs 24x7)
3. NV Drivers

However everything works good when I use 8400GS (of course crap quality cuz I am on a 22 HD).
Man somebody plz suggest some effective fix cuz I have just blown 2.5k on TRad2 (& 7k on 22" & 7k on DFI P45 & 8k on 8800 although long time back so don wanna throw it away)

More details, Thermal paste application method, TIM brand, 120MM fan CFM ?

Install EVGA Precision/Riva Tuner and downclock GPU memory clock and test games (It's sounding more likely now that your GPU is dying a slow death due to CM 'eX' 600W)

Download OCCT latest version, RTHDRIBL, Intel Burn Test, Memtest86. Stress CPU, SMPS, Memory.

BTW why you wasted money on TRad2 + 120MM when you can easily sell 8800GT n buy dual slot 4870 1GB / GTX 260 Core 216, 2x performance gain with 3k~ investment ! :S

Hold on a sec. The pc hangs only in certain games?? U seem to mention that it didnt hang in Crysis while it did hang in COD MW. That is puzzling for a GPU overheat issue as Crysis is more demanding in terms of graphics and more liable to overheat the GPU.

Hence i would think , this doesnt sound like a GPU overheat problem but something else like PSU or drivers.

Memtest, prime95( for 2hrs) all good. And yes even Crysis crashing. Tried downclockin with Rivatuner no use. TIM is the same that came with it chill factor thermalright, fan is a Sunbeamtech 45.21 CFM 0.16A. Applied thin layers on GPU & cooler with old debit card.

Card was crashing with OEM cooler too so had got the TRad.
Some time back when it was on stock cooler & crashin I opened & cleaned it up & it worked good for 3-4 days, replayed entire COD MW. Then same thing.

The RAM & PWM ICs do get very hot tried touchin when gamin :ashamed:
PSU could be the problem as smartguardian & HWmonitor report skewed voltages.

Dying a slow death does not sound good man, love the card. Got only the TRad2 not the fan had it since before. If the damn PSU has damaged the card will have to sell off the cooler & will trash the PSU:@ Had to replace MB & the PSU itself twice cuz of it.
BTW can it be sumthin with the motherboard

Ok, Since it seems to be crashing in all games even crysis it sounds more like a GPU problem.

Now, there is a quick way to find out if its a GPU or something else.

Scenario 1: Download a progam called FurMark (Search in google) and run it in card stressing mode for some time. It should show the card temps along with it.

Scenario 2: Try run some CPU crunching program like Orthos or SuperPI for some time that stresses the CPU/mobo.

Now if it crashes for scenario 1 only then it's easily found out that its a GPU overheat problem here. Similarly if it crashes only for Scenario 2, then its not a GPU issue but something else like mobo or memory.

For both crash, hmm. It's difficult here but get back after running both scenarios.

Ya

furmark will do the gpu stressing job. Check for any artifacts. If u encoubter artifacts even at stock speeds, and card is out of warranty, then you can try underclocking a bit.

And investing on TRAD2 wasnt a good idea. selling off current card was much better option.
