I do not entirely agree to that, buy a GTX 285 and core 2 duo, as you suggested, will become a bottleneck...

Its almost insane to upgrade if an entirely new directx version is just around the corner and will last for next 1 or 2 years.

i think i7 configs are starting to look afforadble except the ram ie. I think this is the best perfomance comp for the price.

First of all, if you have the money, spend it...

Motherboard :MSI P7N SLI Platinum based on 750i SLI

GPU : 2x MSI GeForce N260GTX Lightning 1792 MB (SLI config)

I guess it will fit with in 75 K...

It must be RAID 0 configuration you are talking about.

Its just a configuration of attaching multiple hard disk to achieve improved speed and no lost capacity.

And please do not go for a DDR2 system at this point of time.

OK buddy I did some research and found out this,

Phenom II X4 940 black edition is 9% faster than Q6600 and 22% slower than i7 920.

Processor: Phenom II X4 940 black edition

MOBO: ASRock K10N780SLIX3-WiFi (Based on 780a SLI, will support tri SLI)

Graphics Card: 2x MSI GTX 260 1792 MB

A lot of people have claimed to hit 7.0 GHz mark with Phenom II 955 so I guess there is something special about this one...

But are you going to overclock your processor or you just want to be safe in the knowledge, that it can be overclocked ????

I tried to look around and unfortunately a combination AM3 socket,SLI and DDR3 are not available currently.

AM3 SLI DDR2 are available. ASUS M4N82 DELUXE based on 980a SLI.

But you can get a lot of AM3, DDR3 and Crossfire support motherboards.

Make your choice accordingly, but I would suggest you to stick with intel processor and 750i SLI architecture for motherboard, like I told you before.
