My friend needs a decent Intel core 2 duo based processor & motherboard..
the motherboard must have all standard features & must be widely available..some kind of onboard graphics would could useful..and he also needs a good graphics card, nothing powerful !jus something that can play today's games well..this setup has to last long for him...
he'll basically use it to play games at times, watch movies, surf the net other than the basic usage..
his budget for the core2duo procy + suitable mobo + graphics card = upto 15k !
so plz help me out with these 3 components..

thnx..

Err? Onboard GPU + External GPU ? :P Leave that idea and get this :)

E4300+ XFX 650i SLI + XFX 8500 GT = 5+6+6+ =17 ;) These are indicative prices may be lower to some extent in your city :ohyeah:

dude..sppse de gcard has some issue or doesn work there should be some standby onboard graphics right??

and plz alter wat u recommended to fit the "upto 15k budget"..

he doesn need a fancy Gcard...he aint a hardcore gamer..

Every thing mentioned there .. Well thats not any fancy card thats the lowest end as of now :P 8500 GT DX 10 card I recommended it for DX 10 applications and few games :P.. Well for ur satisfaction .. Intel C2D E4300 + XFX 650i SLI + XFX 8500 GT = 5+6+6+ =17;) Hope it helps Bold 1 are company name and non bold 1 are product code :)

Hope it helps :)

cant something be done to make it around 15k? he's on a budget constraint..

is the XFX 650sli widely availabe, other than onbrd grphcs does it have all other stndrd features?

xfx 8500GT by nvidia or other mnfctrers like bfg, pov, gigabyte, asus ??and this 6k version comes with how much mem. ?

Yup, Dark star is right, that's the best deal he can get right now. Or if he wants a better graphics card...he can go for this.

AMD Athlon 64 x2 3600+ ~ 3k
Jetway AMD 690G Motherboard ~ 3.5k
XFX GeForce 7900 GS ~ Around 9k I guess.

Comes to around 15.5k.

And this board has onboard graphics.

Meh, you specifically mentioned Intel Core2Duo, so I dunno what the hell I'm doing. :P

dude..this gonna be his first comp. ever..so he's keen on c2d & a good config..guess i'll jus recommend wat 'darkstar' recommended..

so he's keen on c2d & a good config

I suggested AMD because it is for value conscious users who don't want to compromise too much on performance. ;) That config is not exactly a "bad" config, and just so you know, the 7900 GS would kick the shit out of the 8500 GT in DX9 gaming. But I guess 8500 GT is good enough if you're a casual gamer. ;)

So yeah, go with what Dark Star mentioned. :)

^^Cause at present very few DX 10 games are out :P And those which are gave bad performance even with Highest end when compared to their DX 9 sibling e.g. COH :) Well you 'll be finding DX 9 games as of now ;)

Regards

So you need a C2D rig, is it to be OC'd...?

If not then :

Intel E4300 : 4850

Intel 965 with Onboard GPU : 5500

XFX 8500 GT : 5000

Fits in your budget, and the best part is no bad after sales service for the m/b

The AMD config mentioned above kics A$$ for the same price though :)

Intel 965 with Onboard GPU : 5500 for just 500 bucks I wont recommend this board :) XFX 1 is gr8 ask Stormy if disbelieving me :P

Well I was not confirmed abt C2D rates acc to Depak it is 4.8 so ur rig can com in 16.8k ;) Well ya DX 10 games will produce much intense atmosphere higher poly models which require more frames to give better playability so if your bro. needs DX 10 then he needs to settle for a higher end card like 88XX or upcoming DX 10 cards :D

Why compare a DX9 card with a DX10 card? I'll explain. At this point of time, there are very few DX10 games. DX9 is still not dead. DX10 will take quite some time to standardize. DX10 is something that is restricted to the very high end market currently, and it has NOT gone mainstream. Regardless, the 8500GT, while it is DirectX 10 compliant, it'll CHOKE in DX10 apps, I assure you, as it's not all that powerful. The 7900 GS will last you for quite somewhile, considering that even the latest games that come out are DX9 enabled. Even if DX10 games come out, they'll come out with a DX9 option embedded in them. Because keep in mind that game developers want to reach the widest audience possible. They can't cater to the DX10 market only as that'll produce huge loss for them.

Hope you understand what I'm trying to say ;)

Actually the XFX 650i is not so great if you picture out the OC'in part.

So if the person in question must absolutely have onboard gpu, and a C2D then that is the ONLY way to go. Only drawback is no OC'in but the a.s.s. of Intel rocks, so thats the advantage, especially for a first time PC buyer.

EDIT :

TehDevil is absolutely correct, but with a C2D he's outta budget for the 7900GS

Like I said AMD system mentioned above, kicks this systems A$$ at stock
