H610 Vs B660

I am going for a i3 12100f system, my usage is just browsing , watching videos and occasional gaming with 1650 super. Does it make sense to pay more for the B660 motherboard or will a H610 be sufficient. I am upgrading after 10 years from a i5 3470 and will like to keep the system for a long time.
 
Is there anything specific in a B660 board that you want explicitly that isn't in an H610 offering? From the looks of it, the answer isn't yes, so you'll be just fine with an H610.

Future proofing, H610 has some expansion slots and faster pcie missing, i may upgrade to 13th gen later keeping the same mobo.
 
As you mentioned you are going to keep it for long time it is worth to invest in nice mobos.

I don't go for mobo cheaper than the above four if there will be definite future upgrade of the processor to something like i7 12700/13700/12600k/13600k etc.
Apart from cutdown in No. of M.2 slots, memory slots, USB ports etc, H610 mobos has very weak VRMs and tiny VRM heatsinks.


MSI MAG B660M Mortar DDR4 has everything.
Good VRMs with huge VRM hestsinks
Plenty of USB ports. Totally 8 at the back IO alone.
2 x M.2 (Both with heatsinks)
Realtek ALC1200 audio codec
Front panel type C option
6 SATA ports

That H670 plus is not worth IMO. have weak VRM and pathetic VRM heatsink. even 12600k at full load should cause VRM thermal issues i think.
There is no way to monitor VRM thermals even.
Even basic MSI and gigabyte boards comes with VRM temperature sensors which can be monitored using hwinfo.
Better to get MSI MAG mortar B660 ddr4 if possible.

Decent option. With good airflow case should work with something like i9 12900 comfortably.
with 10% discount in amazon this mobo is available for 13k.
