Handycam/Digicam suggestions from S'pore

Hi guys,

a friend's dad is off to s'pore in 2 days..

need recommendations for a Handycam and a digicam

Handycam->

Which company? Model? DVD or HDD or tape based, which is best (rather not go for tape)

Digicam->

i've fallen behind on being up-to-date on digicams.. looks for something portable.. is the Nikon S series like S10 and all still good?

Any good Canon models? No SD or Ixus models please..

Any other suggestions please?

Cant even find a review of that panasonic model anywhere.. just found a lot of people selling it online :|

The Canon DIGIC III is just their new cam processor or something.. any MODELS u'd recommend?
 
@ Yogi1771 : SG is generally one of the cheapest places in the world for electronics, but price diff. varies depending on what you buy.

Vince, get the Canon A710 IS. It's one of the better digicams out there, and should be around the 10k mark. PQ for Nikon's compact camera's isn't the greatest.

Yes sir, part of my homework is asking on TechEnclave ;) I've exams now and this info is required urgently for my friend, hence i was asking directly for the models. Thanks for the links. :)

right now leaning towards a handycam, so need suggestions for that too please :)

GS-400 is a Panasonic 3CCD camcorder rated as the best consumer camera of 2005-06 and it's available for Rs.30k to 35k in singapore(I bought one for 31k). Then how it will be a Spam? Search before post...Anyway bye guys, learn to respect others!!!

In a public forum, we can guide you, but we can't do your homework. You have to work to find the best, simple google is not enough man. Even I know the shop name in singapore, I prefer you to search for that. (I learned a lot when i did that)

@ibmmainframes: if that GSV400 is Rs.31K as you say you bought it, its 6K over my budget :) but thanks for the suggestion..
