prolly UE3. but i don't think games should be pc exclusives nowdays (though they should definitely be multiplatform), this'll be pirated like anything :(

Re: Hard Reset - PC Exclusive

^^ Sire did you play The Witcher series I hope it stays PC exclusive.

Re: Hard Reset - PC Exclusive

honestly i dont care about graphics

this game looks cool :)

i heart all the steampunk/ cyberpunk games

Re: Hard Reset - PC Exclusive

^^ I honestly hope so for the game's sake otherwise our gamer's community will give the game developers (in this case Flying Wild Hog) a reset, they will not forget. It is definitely a Unreal 3 based game.

Re: Hard Reset - PC Exclusive

In todays world , Multiplayer is the only thing that can stop the game from getting pirated enuff to affect business. Look at TF2 :) , Its almost a PC exclusive now :P.

The game looks good, hope the final release is polished :)

Re: Hard Reset - PC Exclusive

The game engine looks like UT and Quake III arena...but i would like to play this game..Looks cool.

We should not comment on the graphics too early as these are the only snaps they have published on the net yet. Its still under testing & development so hopefully they know what the real market market is and they might come as a surprise competition to the current fps leads. ;)

As a PC gamer, I can't ignore that remark. Piracy is rampant across all platforms be it Xbox360 or PS3. There are people who will pirate a game no matter what irrespective of whether or not they like the game. You can't count them as your potential customers. They will never buy your game.

PC gaming is held back due to the consoles. My guess is that we would have been much closer to life-like graphics if it weren't for the consoles. Even the gameplay is hampered because a gamepad simply cannot match a mouse and a keyboard. Take Crysis 2 for example. Both the graphics and gameplay suffered. I can't imagine games like STALKER coming out on the consoles without some sort of a disadvantage.

I wouldn't mind games being ported to consoles once the PC version has been released(like Witcher 2) but releasing a game on all three platforms at the same time, compromises the quality on the PC.

Search for a torrent for an AAA title across all the three platforms and check the seeders and leechers. And remember that games sell much more on consoles.

This is very true. But at least now we don't have to constantly upgrade our PC. When the new consoles come out, we will surely see a giant jump in graphics in games.

Re: Hard Reset - PC Exclusive

I meself am primarily a PC gamer, i said that because the devs will certainly regret this decision. A wonderful game called "World of Goo" was also a PC exclusive for a while. After a while the Devs posted a shocking report that only near 5% of the people who played their game bought the game. Think of what i am saying.

Re: Hard Reset - PC Exclusive

That's what I meant Aman. I don't know anyone who buys Licensed games. I have only seen people spending on anti-virus now a days.

Re: Hard Reset - PC Exclusive

^^ I do buy most of my games licensed, lets say its a 60 / 40 split (60 % games I play, I end up acquiring originals / rest 40% like CoD I end up playing through the main campaign and then *poof*).

Recently got Witcher 2 Premium Package from intencity.

While my Anti-visus solution is free, Microsoft Security Essentials -- kind of role reversal in my situation. :bleh:

I just read that report, it was revised but still they believe that atleast 82% of people who played there game had it pirated. It's disheartening news. But then games like STALKER did quite well on the PC even though it's primarily a Singleplayer. I'm not arguing with you, just trying to understand the patterns.

Amnesia, another indie game, sold around 40k copies, which is much more than what it's dev's expected. Though it deserved much better sales. It's sad that people will buy mass marketed crap rather than good indie stuff.

Re: Hard Reset - PC Exclusive

@Alpha: I meant people I know personally. Of course I expect more people at TE to buy their games. People who have access to steam have very little reason to play Pi**ted stuff. During sales everything becomes dirt cheap.

Re: Hard Reset - PC Exclusive

The visuals look outdated alright.

Re: Hard Reset - PC Exclusive

Oh man please dont bring that World of Goo example. It is an overused example spouted by everyone on the net wanting to prove that PC gamers are pirates. That 90% figure is a very old one, I think from around the time of the release of the game.

Since then, the game has been part of countless Steam sales and was part of one Humble bundle also I think. It has been ported to other platforms also. Point is even if the piracy rate was 90% at that time, it doesnt say how many copies were actually sold. Keep in mind, it is a small budget game. Games like World of Goo dont need to sell millions of copies to keep their developers afloat.

Also, with games like World of Goo lot of people download the pitrated copy just to see what all the hype was about. I know I downloaded the pirated copy myself. But I thought the game was boring, so never bothered with it. But I still ended up buying it as part of the Humble bundle. Now, I dont even play even though I have a perfectly legit copy of it.

Hard Reset Discussion Thread

Hard Reset

"In an era of “on-rails†and open-world shooters, many people forget where FPS’s came from. The likes of DOOM, Quake, Painkiller, and Serious Sam paved the way for this genre to become popular PC titles to play. Hard Reset is looking to bring this genre back to its roots. Gamespot UK interviewed Michal Szustak, CEO of developer Flying Wild Hog, about how this game is going to do just that.

Hard Reset is slated to release September of this year, and will incorporate unique weapons, with alternate fire modes, a non-regenerative health system, PC-exclusivity, and no multi-player content. Sound a little odd? Well I personally think this is a step in the right direction for the hard-core PC FPS fans."
