I Was Curious On The News Of New Production Plant Which Is Coming Up At Oragadam, Chennai. Has The Production Started? It Was Supposed To Start In The Second Week Of April 2013. Royal Enfield really need to bring down the waiting period of their motorcycles at the earliest.

I have already booked the new thunderbird 350 and eagrly waiting for the bull... I know guys, those who booked their bulls has already had a dream, as if u got your bulls. Isn't it?

Guys, let me know if the production didn't kickstart or postponed?

The status is "very soon" and even so, I don't think the waiting periods will come down drastically the minute it is online. I will take a couple of months to bring the plant up to optimum capacity.

As for the waiting period, RE is probably the only company to have had a waiting period for their vehicles since '99, so the waiting periods will probably become "reasonable" 1-3 months, rather than the 3-12 months currently :)

Guess you know by now...The factory is officially functional now. While Siddharth Lal (MD, Royal Enfield) has not committed anything on the waiting period front, the dealers at Chennai are promising a 4-5 months period for Classic (350/500) series against 7-8 months as it used to be. The wait period for TB (350/500) still stands at the same level. I am told that the new factory will assemble TB while the old one would do the Classic ones in addition to Bullet Electra. I was also told that the deliveries for TB has not happened to any dealers for the last 40 days due to some internal quality reasons and would resume by May 2o onwards.
PS: I am aware of the updates as I was lucky to pickup a Desert Storm just a week back :)
