CPU/Mobo Have socket 939 cpu?? Can has 785G mobo??

For those who have socket 939 processors and DDR400 RAM lying around, pray and hope this is true. :P

^^ thanks Bikey, how do you think this would work with an 939 Opteron 170? If it works great then I won't have to invest much in the upgradation!
 
Don't even know if this is true or will materialise ever or is a rumour/FUD/whatever.

The 939 chips are pretty dated, not energy efficient but potent enough for most of the stuff average users do.

And such users don't use a pc for very long hours either- so the higher TDP won't hurt much hopefully.

We still have people wanting for P4 chips and those were so worse compared to socket 939 chips.

All that is needed is that mobo and decent basic rig is up and running.

IIRC, the 939 chips, esp dual cores, were quite competent compared to their AM2 counterparts or low end Pentium dual core chips like the E21xx. :)
 
^^Thanks for the info Bikey! Could the TE dealers please throw some light on whether this is true and if this product really exists, and if it does then what's the price? It would be a big boon for TE members like me who can't afford a new system!
 
i would definitely buy one.but someone else had posted abt this same board about a week back here in the forums.
