Dont expect too much right away.
These telecom provider cartel works like a mafia now.
Let the theoretical launch move to practical launch before thinking forward.
As someone said dont count the chickens before they hatch.

I hope it ACTUALLY comes. This ISP has been on paper since its inception (that too on paper). I really hope they pull off this time. All because of the red tape, it is getting delayed infinitely.

It will only affect the markets they initially launch in.. Mumbai & NCR initially & that too in selected areas. They are thinking of rolling out in other circles depending on feasibility & demand. Other areas should be covered in another 1-2 years... So not going to affect the broadband scene much , at-least pan India.

For example.. Beam in Hyderabad is very successful & many BSNL users have moved to it, Now BSNL is thinking on doubling the speed on Home 750 plan (No fup one). A proposal is sent for approval but only for Hyd/ AP circle.

Dont know why beam is not thinking of expanding their business... They should really do this... If ISPs like BEAM and Hayai would roll out their services in many other cities then the ISPs (sitting like ducks) would feel the pressure and would try to offer 10 to 12mbps plans at affordable prices... We really need more ISPs like beam and Hayai which could change the internet scene in india...

^.. It will happen but not for another 3-4 years.... Laying fiber is still very expensive while traditional ISP's still are on copper since ages...

FYI.. this advert was released for last diwali.. not this year.. they have been on paper atleast for a year now! probably because it's too good to be true!

^It might have been but they have launched/re-launched this advert for this diwali specifically. Everything seems to be in place for a limited launch but you can't be sure till its rolled out to at least a few end users.

till serious issues like the telecom cartel with price collusion between the biggies, robust internal peering, giving legal teeth to TRAI, hard negotiations with international bandwidth providers at MEA level, content creation within the country, provide cheap electricity to major rural portion are dealt with nothing spectacular will happen in the National broadband scene. only minor blimps like increasing the min. broadband speed will be hailed as milestone in the new broadband policy of this govt. another thing you all may laugh at but laying good quality roads & elimination of corruption at lower levels are also important, competitors (read biggies) bribe municipal/EB ppl to dig roads in the pretext of repairing and out of the blue your fiber optic cable goes bonkers cos it it cut in the road digging & FOC can't be repaired easily like traditional cables.

till that we can all wallow in desperation and false hopes. thats all. AFAIK it is impossible for HAYAI like new entrant to operate peacefully (if you know what I mean). The promoters will be knowing what they are up against and these are great plans but I'm skeptical, I will be very glad to be proven wrong in the end.

Initially few areas in Mumbai...

Ya, that's what I thought. They were going to launch in Pune and Mumbai at the same time but had to delay due to licensing etc. Probably by tomorrow, we can get some reviews about the connection.

Will have to wait few months before they come to Bangalore though:(
