Graphic Cards HD 4830 crossfire wipes out GTX 280

beating one or two games doesnt mean its better than GTX 260 , gtx 260 has double memory bandwidth and almost twice memory , new games are hungry for buffer memory , 512mb is less for new games . also the GTX 260 for 12k approx is factory overclocked version , now say that it beats 4850 sonic :bleh:

In the second one (Devil May Cry 4), it beats out the GTX 260 ( both stock and 216 SP) at all the resolutions they have tested.
It doesn't beat the GTX260 in every case. But considering that it costs much less, I would says its VFM. But each to his own.

costs much less ??? man GTX 260 is as low as 200 $ now , 4850 sonic is overpriced now . for few hundred bux more one can get GTX 260 from kmd .

even 4870 512 doesnt beat core 216 :bleh: forget about sonic 4850 , cant trust reviews these days :rofl:

I didn't say it beat GTX 260. I said it beat it in SOME games. Anyway as I said .. each to his own. I wasn't aware GTX260 was now available so cheaply from KMD. This may affect my decision. Damn!!

Ok I just saw in newegg that 4870 prices are also down to $230-$240 range. Anyway, I intend to do crossfire in the future so I guess its 4850 or 4870 for me.

Man please correct me If I am wrong but should'nt u be comparing two equally priced products. U r taking KMD price into consideration for a GTX260 and Indian price for a 4850.
I am no fanboi of any side but should'nt the comparison be fair. If u are considering KMD price then interms of $$ most of the 4850s are in the range of 140 - 170 $$ where GTX 260 starts from 200 and above............

The cheapest GTX260 is an MSI OC for 210 $$ (I dont know why it has OC in name. All its clocks are at reference speeds)

P.S This will effect my decision too as I am also planning to buy one but cannot decide to go Via KMD or local market
 
In the two pages shown above, first of all COD4 is port and in the most stressful settings both 260 wins, In devil my cry 4, it seems it seriously favors ATI hardware. So even those 2 pages are doubtful pointers for 4850 performance. The 260 is a very powerful and capable cards, 2 lines cannot explain the difference between a 4850 and 260. I was reluctant to post on this thread, coz I dont find the title right to start with. 4850 is not supposed to be competing with 260, its a competition to 9800gtx/+, which is a underdog card, with the latest drivers, pricing, cooling (stock/aftermarket), overclocking capability - there are tremendous choices. Having used a 9800gtx, (65nm), I had vanilla cards and I could overclock both of them to 840+ on core. I know a lot of people dont think 9800gtx is a capable card anymore, but a simple example is the crysis thread, its still at no3, with only the 4870x2 & gx2 bettering it. The sheer overclocking capability on the 9800gtx is lethal and stands out from most cards. I still think that 9800gtx is very much comparable to 4850, after 180.48. My $0.2

even kmd prices of 4850 are not that good , price difference between kmd price of 4850 and gtx 260 is 1.5k around , still gtx 260 is best buy , and the MSI GTX 260 has wrong specs on the site , its overclocked edition to 626 core and 1350 shader actually .

u are kid not me , u always see ati is better , i just meant that the price of sonic increased here , from 10.5k to 11.5k , who cares if its kmd or local warranty ? the price of 4850 in US is 150 $ , it should not be 10k here , for 2k more u are getting a card which is worth 20k in india , whats bad in that , even if its kaput and u pay 1k u are not in loss . 4850 is a mid range card and gtx 260 is high end card . even 2x 4830 will cost 15k from kmd . and plus the cost of CF board . i am not saying 4850 is bad option . but when someone can get much better card from US at same price whats bad in that .

u seem more kiddy , not even tested a single card and still saying ATI is best , u never want to except the truth , always telling ATI is best option , how much does ATI pay u for that ? :rofl:

first of all, you are confusing everyone here with your bS replies..i'm again asking you same question - how are you comparing KMD vs Street prices? i doubt 260 won't even cost 12K from KMD..Would someone come forward & clear it? and which brand costs 12K..

mind you, i'm not any fanboi, i follow AMD/ATI coz of my personal choice..:P people misunderstand me as an fanboi which i'm not...thats it.

i don't reckon only ATI, i had reckons 100's of Nvidia cards on TT, E, here & chip..
 
Poor me .. fell into ATi nVidia war. Anyway, I am gonna wait for nVidia's price cuts. Both SP-216 and HD4870 seems to be holding their grounds right now. So I will go with the one with the better price/bundle/features.

Damn! I HATE this waiting game. Wish they would just hurry up and drop the prices tomorrow itself. :D

On another note: Is the stereo thingy on nVidia really great when it comes to gaming? I have been trying to get my hands on some 3D glasses. Does Stereo-gaming really work? Anyone here has tried it?

MSI GTX 260 is 200 $ , what am i confusing others ? i am not comparing CF results with that , but those people who want single card , 260 would be better choise , i dont hate ati or like nvidia :bleh: , i was myself just about to buy 2 x 4850 sonic , but the price increased to 11.5k now , which is high for a 4850 , now thinking to get 2 4850 from KMD or single core 216 .

if thats the case i have gone with GTX260 core 216 ......yeh it's better than 4850 n even beats 4870 in most of games (speacially after drivers 180.42 release)

n if talking abt. loclly .....well 4850 costs 9-12k
n while GTX260 coew 216 19k+
in this case sure for 4850 ....reason simple , better VFM , costs almost half ...... will be eager for 4850CF rather than GTX260 core216 coz 4850 CF is performing very well in m,any games .

Really!? I just checked newegg to see if there were any new deals on the 4850 and the cheapest core 216 is $240. @48 inr = 1 usd thats 11.5k. Id expect kmd to have a slightly higher margin than that.

Infact it will be more than 15k through KMD, he is calculating it @ around 50 per dollar.
 
How stable are the doubled scores? Across all games? Have the sporadic issues with CF not scaling on a few titles ceased?

^^Sudarshan needs to learn to count better....

Without driver updates almost all new games do not see any benefit/or horrible scaling either with SLI or CF. Ofcourse almost for all titles from major production houses drivers are ready even before the game launch and if not then certainly within weeks of the game release. Like FC2 had horrible scaling in CF when it came out but ATI has come up with patch/release to fix it.
